| Husky Families, It was a special week at Hill-Roberts, filled with books, family connections, and opportunities to see our school community in action!
What a fantastic Book Fair! Thank you to our PTO, our family volunteers, and our Book Fair Co-Coordinators, Dr. Dimond and Mrs. Joyce, for making it happen. Students came away with so many great books. We’re especially grateful to the families who purchased books from teachers’ wish bins, supporting our literacy goals and helping foster a love of reading in our classrooms.
Thank you, too, for joining us at Welcome Back Night! We appreciated your feedback last year about the scavenger hunt. Without it this year, families had more time to connect with staff, explore learning spaces, and walk through their child’s day at their own pace.

For the past few years, students in grades K-4 have participated in morning announcements. Student voice and participation in daily routines is so important to not only building community at Hill-Roberts, but to advancing the confidence in our young people. Every weekday has its own fun theme throughout the year. For example, we love hearing students share a funny (but appropriate) joke/pun on Funny Fridays. Below is a picture of one of Ms. Davis' students sharing a greeting in his home language on World Wide Wednesday, a day that centers the languages, geography, and facts from countries around the world.
If your student ever wants to participate, they just need to have their teacher send a note to the main office :). |

Put your car in park before your child gets out. Please have your child exit on the right side. Exiting on the left requires children and staff to pass between cars. |

Beginning next week, pull over to the right-hand side near the large dumpsters, behind the tall cones and parallel to the car line. Park there before helping your child out. |
Buckling Trouble at Pick Up? Practice with a fun “Pit Stop” at home! |
For afternoon pickup, practice having your child get into the car and buckle independently while you count the seconds. Make it a fun game in your driveway, with a calm and controlled entry every time. The goal is to build a safe routine that gets easier with practice. |

The Seal of Biliteracy is offered to any student who demonstrates proficiency in English and any other language, whether they speak or sign the language other than English at home or learned it at school or in the community.

Parental Supervision for All Elementary Students Required |
Attleboro High School greatly appreciates the support of families at all AHS sporting events. While most students are there to watch the games and enjoy the event, a number of students have been left/dropped off unsupervised. This has created safety concerns and disruptions for other fans in attendance.
ALL middle school aged students and younger MUST be accompanied by an adult at all high school events. We appreciate your support keeping all in attendance supervised while allowing an enjoyable environment for all. Please know this expectation is currently in place for AHS events moving forward. Absences, Early Dismissal, Change in Transportation |
Communication is key in these areas. Please inform both your teacher and front office of any of these happenings. Absences – please call the front office to report your child not coming to school. Also please note that for our absence to be excused you must provide a doctor’s note. Early Dismissal – please send a note to school with your student and your teacher will send it to the front office.
Change in afternoon transportation – If your student is not going to ride the bus on one given day and is going to be a walker, please send a note so that both the Teacher and Staff know and can mark it accordingly. This also helps on half days if you are normally an ABACUS student and are not going that day. |

Breakfast, Snack, and Lunch |
Similar to last year, breakfast and lunch is free for all students. Menus can be found here. Breakfast:
Breakfast is free and the menu (here) changes daily. To ensure a smooth 8:45am start for your student, any student entering the cafe after 8:40am may get a "grab-and-go" style breakfast. This helps them start the day on time with all their classmates. Snack: Classrooms will remain nut safe during snack time. All snacks that will be eaten in the classroom must be nut free. A snack should be sent with your child every day. Please be mindful of the packaging difficulty of snacks. We encourage healthy eating for snacks. Lunch:
Lunch is free for all students. For younger students, talk to them about which choice they want, so making the choice in the classroom is easier for them. If your child has any food related allergies, please be sure to directly contact our nurse, Mrs. Sherri Knight-Cloud, at sknightcloud@attleboroschools.com or call the school and ask to speak with her.

All Families:
The Dentist will be here on Tuesday, October 6th. The Attleboro Schools District has partnered with CMOHS : Commonwealth Mobile Oral Health Services. They provide a no cost dental exam, and cleaning, fluoride treatment and sealants as needed. If your child needs further work, they will provide a referral form. The program is intended for families whose child does not see a dentist yearly. Permission slips have gone home. If you want your student to participate in this program, please fill out the form, sign and return to school. If you do not want your child to participate, you may discard the form. If you didn’t receive a form, please let me know.
Kindergarten Families:
Hill Roberts will be partnering with the Lion’s Club to perform Vision Screenings on Kindergarten students on Thursday, Oct 8th. The Lion’s Club uses a SPOT screener which us used by many doctor’s offices. Please make sure to send your child’s glasses in with them on that day,( if they have been prescribed glasses). This program is part of the State mandated Vision and Hearing screens that are done yearly. You may opt your child out of these screenings at any time. If you do not want your child to participate, please send in a note to the teacher stating so. Hearing will be done at a later time. You may opt of out Vision, Hearing or both. Please contact the nurse with any questions about Vision and Hearing Screenings.
1st – 4 th Grade Families:
All grades will be screened for Vision, Hearing, Height & Weight according to the Massachusetts guidelines. These will take place as the year progresses, starting with 4th grade and working my way to 1st grade. I hope to begin 4th grade in mid / late October. 4th grade is screened for distance, vision and height & weight. I will send a further notice as we move into October. You may opt out of these at any time by sending in a note to the nurse. Please contact the nurse with any questions about the Dental program or State Mandated Screenings.
