ABACUS, Car, Walker Students, Please Fill Out Form |
Please let us know how you plan on having your student arrive and leave school everyday by filling out this form. Please fill out 1 form for each child at Hill-Roberts. Thank you! |
NEW Arrival and Dismissal Procedures and Plans |
To support your student's transition and avoid confusion, please remain consistent with your child's transportation schedule. This means that your student's Day 1 Transportation plan should be the same as their transportation routine for the whole school year. Consistency is comforting and builds confidence. |
Car Drop Off/ Pick Up - NEW |
Drop off and pick up using the car line on Roy Ave only. Staff will direct the line to the unloading area by Door #4 (a.k.a., side entrance). Please do not pass another car in the queue, make a u-turn, or stop and leave your vehicle.
Parents remain in their vehicle. School personnel will assist your child as needed. Be sure to say your goodbyes prior to pulling up to the drop off area, as it is important that the children exit the vehicle promptly. Please have your child exit the vehicle on the passenger side only.
If your child uses a booster seat, please have them practice how to unclip themselves once it is their turn to exit the vehicle. If your child needs help being clipped into their seatbelt or a booster seat at dismissal, please pull slightly forward to the side by the dumpsters where there is more space for you to pull your car over so that you can help them. Staff will be there to direct you.
Student last name placards will be distributed to families who will be picking up students using the car line. They should be displayed in the front windshield during pick up time at dismissal - you can attach the placard to your passenger side visor and flip it down when you join the line. The placards list the child's name which helps us to dismiss children efficiently.
If your family uses more than one vehicle to pick up your child, please contact Ms. McLaughlin (kmclaughlin@attleboroschools.com) or Mrs. Doxsey (jdoxsey@attleboroschools.com) in the main office for additional placards.
The line looks daunting but we do have an excellent, safe and efficient system for getting students dismissed quickly to their vehicles. Please be patient. The line gets quicker after the first few weeks of school. |
Walker/Biker students should not arrive by car. They only should arrive by bike or by foot. Families can walk or ride a bike with them. will enter and exit through door #7 located by the Kindergarten playground. (See map below) There is NO supervision before 8:30 AM. Please do not leave your child unattended. Door #7 will be opened at the bell at 8:30 AM for arrival and 3:10 PM for dismissal. Please be on time. |
Bus students will be met by staff at the front circle drop off and supervised during loading and unloading. Bus routes are here.
Please be at your stop at least 10 minutes before the estimated time of pick up/drop off every day. Once three full weeks have gone by, you will have a more realistic, regular time that the bus arrives/drops off at the designated bus stop.
A reminder that the first 2-3 weeks of the bus route, times may be off by 5-15 minutes or more as everyone adjusts to more traffic on the roads when school begins as well as those families who take that extra minute to give a good-bye hug or words of positive encouragement. If your child normally takes the bus but will need to be picked up instead, please notify the classroom teacher in writing.
If you need to make a change to how your child is going home after the school day has begun, please call the main office ASAP so we have enough time to notify your child and their teacher of the change. |
If you are picking up your child early for an appointment, please notify the classroom teacher in writing. Please park in the main lot and come to the main entrance to dismiss your child. We ask that all early dismissals are planned for before 2:30 PM. |

Absences, Early Dismissal, Change in Transportation |
Communication is key in these areas. Please inform both your teacher and front office of any of these happenings. Absences – please call the front office to report your child not coming to school. Also please note that for our absence to be excused you must provide a doctor’s note. Early Dismissal – please send a note to school with your student and your teacher will send it to the front office.
Change in afternoon transportation – If your student is not going to ride the bus on one given day and is going to be a walker, please send a note so that both the Teacher and Staff know and can mark it accordingly. This also helps on half days if you are normally an ABACUS student and are not going that day. |
