Dear Willett Families,

To ensure the safety and accuracy of dismissal for our nearly 400 students, please keep dismissal plans consistent. Due to the high volume of daily requests, tracking changes has become challenging. For known changes, send a note to your child’s teacher on the morning of the change, including your child’s first and last names. For urgent changes during the day, contact the main office at 508-222-0286 by 12:00 PM. Emergencies will be managed as needed.

Welcome Back Night

On Thursday, September 26, 2024, we will host our annual Welcome Back Night from 5:30-7:30 PM. We are excited about the opportunity to open our doors to students and families from the Willett Community.

Families will have the opportunity to visit our PTO table and purchase Spirit Wear and books from the Book Fair. For families interested, the Scouts will be here. Stop by our Specialists and pick out from their wish list items to purchase needed for use by students in their classrooms. The Garden Club will have a table in the lobby.

In the homeroom classrooms, families will be signing up for Parent/Teacher conferences. This event is not intended to be a parent/teacher conference night as they are scheduled in November. Teachers and staff will not be discussing individual student progress.

Willett Community Contact Information

📢 Attention Willett Families! 📢

We're excited to announce that the Willett PTO is putting together an all-school directory to help connect parents and caregivers of our students. This directory will be a valuable resource for facilitating communication outside of school.

Additionally, we're aiming to create class-specific parent contact lists. This will make it easier for us to coordinate class-wide projects (like teacher gifts) and potentially organize outings.
If you have multiple children at Willett, please fill out the form once for each child. Don't forget to check the box if you're comfortable with your contact information being shared within the Willett Community. *No information will be shared without consent.

Dear Parents/Guardians,

Welcome to the new school year.  To prevent the spread of illness in our school, I would like to take some time to review the health policies regarding communicable diseases/illnesses.

The Massachusetts Department of Public Health recommends the following guidelines to keep children home from school:

·       Fever:  Temperature of 100.0 or greater - Your child must stay home for 24 hours after the fever has dropped and no fever reducing medication has been given in a 24-hour span of time.

·       Diarrhea:  Your child must stay home until there is no more diarrhea for 24 hours.

·       Vomiting:  Your child must stay home until vomiting has stopped for at least 24 hours.

·       Cold symptoms:  Frequent cough, runny nose, sneezing (not necessarily associated with a fever.

·       Remind your child to cough or sneeze into elbow and not into hands.  Encourage frequent hand washing.

·       Contagious illnesses: (Strep throat, conjunctivitis), Your child needs to have taken at least 24 hours of prescribed medication before coming back to school. 

·       Rashes:  Rashes should be evaluated by a doctor to determine cause and treatment

·       Head Lice:  A child found to have live lice at school will be sent home.  The child should be properly treated and may return to school on the day after treatment.  Before being allowed back in the classroom, a parent or other adult, must accompany the student to school so the school nurse can check the student. 

 Please provide documentation when your child has been evaluated for an illness and for any treatments that may be needed at school with a proper doctors’ order form and parent permission slip.

 Most illnesses need 24 hours rest after the fever has dropped to allow the body to recover from illness and infection.  I am asking for your help in trying to reduce the amount of illness in our school. 

In winter months, make sure that your child is dressed in a warm coat, because they will still go out for recess during the winter, weather permitting.  It would also be helpful to keep a hat and mittens in their backpack. 

Please pack a change of clothes daily for accidental spills and/or bathroom accidents.

Continue to call in your child’s absences with associated symptoms and any treatments ordered by a doctor.  Thank you for helping keep our children happy and healthy!  If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to call me at 508-222-0286.
