A Request From our Specialists.....

Dear Willett Families,

We hope everyone has had a smooth and exciting start to the school year! As we settle into the rhythm of learning and growth, our Specials Team—covering Art, Health, Library, Music, and PE—has put together a wishlist of items that will greatly enhance the experience in our classrooms.

These everyday supplies will help us ensure that our students have a safe, clean, and creative environment to learn and thrive in. We would be incredibly grateful for any contributions from the list below:

  • Tissues

  • Disinfectant wipes

  • Bandaids

  • Color Expo markers

The music and health programs also have an Amazon wishlist. If you would like, please click on the links and take a look.

If you are able to donate any of these items, we welcome you to send them with your child to school, or feel free to drop them off at the front office. Every contribution, big or small, makes a difference in supporting our students and the hands-on activities we strive to provide.

Thank you so much for your continued support and generosity.

Warmly,

Seal

Dear Families,

We are pleased to inform you of Attleboro High School’s participation in the Massachusetts State Seal of Biliteracy for the 2024-2025 School Year. The Seal of Biliteracy is offered to any student who demonstrates proficiency in English and any other language, whether they speak or sign the language other than English at home or learned it at school or in the community. The State Seal of Biliteracy aims to:

  1. Encourage students to study and master languages;

  2. Certify attainment of biliteracy skills;

  3. Recognize the value of language diversity;

  4. Provide employers with a method of identifying people with language and biliteracy skills;

  5. Provide universities with a method to recognize and give credit to applicants for attainment of high-level skills in languages;

  6. Prepare students with skills that will benefit them in the labor market and the global society; and

  7. Strengthen intergroup communication and honor the multiple cultures and languages in a community.

In order to earn the Massachusetts State Seal of Biliteracy, students must:

  1. Demonstrate a high level of proficiency in English by earning a minimum score of 472 or higher on the Grade 10 ELA MCAS,

  2. Demonstrate a high level of proficiency in a world language by attaining a minimum score equivalent to Intermediate-High on an assessment approved by the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education, and

  3. Satisfy all other graduation requirements.

 The Seal of Biliteracy with Distinction is available to students who:

  1. Earn a score of 501 or higher on the Grade 10 ELA MCAS

  2. Demonstrate a proficiency level of Advanced Low or higher on a Department-approved assessment, and

  3. Satisfy all other graduation requirements.

Be on the lookout for the Attleboro Public Library Community Read Passport coming home in your child’s backpack. Students can use these passports to collect stamps at the various community reading events held throughout the school year. Once the passports are filled, they can bring them to school or to the public library to receive special recognition at the summer reading kick-off in June.  All events will be listed on the calendar at attleborolibrary.org.

Student Handbook Sign Off

Please review the student handbook and complete the sign off process in ASPEN. It is expected that all students have a parent/guardian complete this.

Willett Community Contact Information

📢 Attention Willett Families! 📢

We're excited to announce that the Willett PTO is putting together an all-school directory to help connect parents and caregivers of our students. This directory will be a valuable resource for facilitating communication outside of school.

Additionally, we're aiming to create class-specific parent contact lists. This will make it easier for us to coordinate class-wide projects (like teacher gifts) and potentially organize outings.
If you have multiple children at Willett, please fill out the form once for each child. Don't forget to check the box if you're comfortable with your contact information being shared within the Willett Community. *No information will be shared without consent.

Have questions or need assistance? Feel free to reach out to us at willettptopres@gmail.com.
Thank you for helping us strengthen our community at Willett!

TSN

Dear Families,

As a reminder, the Mobile Dentist will be at Willett on October 28, 2024. If you have given consent for your student to be seen, please make sure they are present at school this day. The Dentist will only be here for one day and then will return in May.

Thank you,

Vicky O’Malley, M.Ed, BSN, RN
