January 30, 2026

Dear Willett Families,

As we enter the month of February, we continue to build on the momentum of a strong start to the year. February brings opportunities to reflect, celebrate, and grow together as a school community, while maintaining a continued focus on academic progress and student success. šŸŒŸšŸ“š

Our students and staff have demonstrated tremendous dedication and resilience, and I am proud of the learning and collaboration taking place in our classrooms each day. We remain committed to fostering a supportive, engaging environment where every student feels valued and challenged to reach their full potential. šŸ’™šŸ‘

As winter continues, we kindly remind families to ensure that students are dressed appropriately for cold weather and winter conditions, including warm coats, hats, gloves, and proper footwear, so they can stay safe and comfortable throughout the school day. ā„ļøšŸ§¤šŸ§£

Please note the following important February dates: šŸ“…

February 4: Student Council’s Holiday Day šŸŽ‰

February 13: Early Release Day (12:25 PM) ā°

February 16–22: February Vacation šŸŒ“šŸ˜Ž

February 23: Student Council’s Comfy/Pajama Day šŸ’¤šŸ§ø

Thank you to our families for your continued partnership and support. Together, we are making a meaningful difference in the lives of our students. I look forward to a productive and inspiring February and all that it will bring for our school community. šŸ¤āœØ

Warm Regards,

 Mr. Jeffrey Cateon, Principal

Using a familiar song in Music, Mrs. Bower's class worked together to choose instruments to add, including a xylophone part. They practiced, made changes along the way, and shaped the song until it felt ready to perform.

Play

Mrs. Carroll’s fourth graders have been working on a science unit called ā€œEnergizing Everything.ā€ Students practiced working collaboratively with classmates and performing hands‑on tasks that required innovation and creative problem‑solving strategies.

Students have been fully engaged in ā€œEnergizing Everything,ā€ exploring how energy is stored and how it makes objects move.

Food as energy: In lessons connecting science to everyday life, students learned how the energy in food helps our bodies move — similar to how gasoline powers cars. Students enjoyed talking about examples from sports and play.

Twist-o-matic Tester: Students built paper models of an amusement‑park ride that stores energy in rubber bands. They experimented with thin versus thick rubber bands and compared how fast the ride spun. Many students were excited to observe how the thickness of the rubber band changed the results.

Bumper Coasters: In a follow‑up activity, students constructed paper roller coasters and released marbles to see how height stores energy and how that energy transfers as the marble moves along the track. Students made careful observations and discussed how changes to the track affected the marble’s motion.

Mrs. Carroll’s students thoughtfully planned, tested, and revised their designs — showing persistence and cooperation.

Hello from the Health Office,

The Mobile Dentist will be returning to Willett on March 3, 2026.  Since your child was seen earlier this school year, they are scheduled to be seen again.  Please make sure your child is present in school, as the Mobile Dentist will not be returning until next school year.  If you did not have your child see the dentist in September when they were here, but would like to have them seen this time, please send a note requesting a consent form to be sent home.
