Dear Families:
Every year, each public school and school district in Massachusetts receives a report card. Just as your childâs report card shows how they are doing in different subjects, the schoolâs report card is designed to show families how our school is doing in different areas. A link to our schoolâs report card is available at https://reportcards.doe.mass.edu/2025/00160035.
The report card includes multiple measures of a schoolâs performance â more than just MCAS scores. It represents a new way of looking at school performance, by providing information on student achievement, teacher qualifications, student learning opportunities, and more.
Report cards are designed to be useful tools for everyone connected to our school. Families can use the information to have meaningful conversations with us about what the school is doing well and where there is room for improvement. Community and education leaders can use the information to better understand how to support students and our school.
Last year, our student attendance rate was approximately 94%, which is in line with the state average. While this reflects consistent attendance for many of our students, we know that strong attendance is essential to maximizing academic growth. Our goal is to increase our overall attendance rate to 96% or above, and we will continue partnering with families to ensure students are present, engaged, and ready to learn each day.
Our students are demonstrating impressive academic growth. In Mathematics, our growth rate exceeded the state average by 13 points (63 compared to 50), and in English Language Arts, our growth rate was 6 points higher than the state average (56 compared to 50). These results are a testament to the dedication of our educators, the intentional and thoughtful lesson planning that takes place every day, and the perseverance and resilience of our students.
In addition to our academic focus, we have strengthened our school community by implementing cross-grade collaboration efforts. These initiatives are designed to build meaningful relationships among students and staff, foster a strong sense of belonging, and further strengthen our overall learning culture. We believe that a connected and supportive community is essential to sustain academic success.
While we are encouraged by our growth, we also recognize areas where we must continue to improve. This past year, we experienced a dip in our overall math achievement scores. In response, we are taking clear and focused action. We are implementing our new math curriculum, i-Ready, with fidelity; strengthening targeted interventions; expanding support resources; and continuing to use data-driven instructional practices to ensure every student receives the support they need to succeed.
We encourage you to become involved in helping us improve our school. We see parents as critical partners in the success of our students and school, and we are grateful for your continued support.
Finally, if your child attends a school that receives federal Title I funds, you also have the right to request the following information about the qualifications of your childâs classroom teachers:
Whether your childâs teacher is licensed in the grade levels and subject areas they teach,
Whether your childâs teacher is teaching under an emergency license or waiver,
The college degree and major of your childâs teacher, and
Whether your child is provided services by paraprofessionals and, if so, their qualifications.
If you have questions about our schoolâs report card, would like to become involved in school improvement activities, or would like to request information about the qualifications of your childâs classroom teacher, please contact me at jcateon@attleboroschools.com.
