We are overwhelmed with the number of students who ran for Student Council this year. Congratulations to the third and fourth graders who read their speeches to their classes on Friday. We loved seeing the campaign posters that were brought in. The advisors will tally the votes and plan to announce the winners by the end of next week. We are so proud of everyone who was a part of this election process. Thank you!

Willett Garden Fall Clean Up
Hello Willett Community!
It's that time of year again when we need to clean up our school garden and prepare it for the winter months ahead. Closing it properly allows us to protect our soil and have it ready for all of our student gardeners in the Spring! We need your help! We had an amazing crew of volunteers for Spring prep and are hoping to have the same for Winter as well. We know your time is valuable and truly appreciate all that you do to keep us going and GROWING strong!

Dear Families,
We are pleased to inform you of Attleboro High School’s participation in the Massachusetts State Seal of Biliteracy for the 2024-2025 School Year. The Seal of Biliteracy is offered to any student who demonstrates proficiency in English and any other language, whether they speak or sign the language other than English at home or learned it at school or in the community. The State Seal of Biliteracy aims to:
Encourage students to study and master languages;
Certify attainment of biliteracy skills;
Recognize the value of language diversity;
Provide employers with a method of identifying people with language and biliteracy skills;
Provide universities with a method to recognize and give credit to applicants for attainment of high-level skills in languages;
Prepare students with skills that will benefit them in the labor market and the global society; and
Strengthen intergroup communication and honor the multiple cultures and languages in a community.
In order to earn the Massachusetts State Seal of Biliteracy, students must:
Demonstrate a high level of proficiency in English by earning a minimum score of 472 or higher on the Grade 10 ELA MCAS,
Demonstrate a high level of proficiency in a world language by attaining a minimum score equivalent to Intermediate-High on an assessment approved by the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education, and
Satisfy all other graduation requirements.
The Seal of Biliteracy with Distinction is available to students who:
Earn a score of 501 or higher on the Grade 10 ELA MCAS
Demonstrate a proficiency level of Advanced Low or higher on a Department-approved assessment, and
Satisfy all other graduation requirements.

Join parents of other English Learners for an ELPAC meeting on October 17, 2024, at 5:30 PM. Parents/Guardians who attend will learn about school communication, school calendars, and the services available to students in the English Learner's program.
If you need an interpreter, you must inform your student's ELL Teacher by Tuesday, October 15, 2024.
Childcare will NOT be provided for this meeting. Children may attend and sit quietly at the table with their parents in the meeting.

Willett Elementary is excited to continue our tradition of having a Student Council. A Student Council is a body of students who are elected by their classmates to represent their ideas, needs, and opinions. Each class in grades 3-4 will have representatives that will cover all the classes in the school. Information on how to run for Student Council will be coming home on Monday. Please check the responsibilities and the dates before applying. Thank you!

Please review the student handbook and complete the sign off process in ASPEN. It is expected that all students have a parent/guardian complete this.

📢 Attention Willett Families! 📢
We're excited to announce that the Willett PTO is putting together an all-school directory to help connect parents and caregivers of our students. This directory will be a valuable resource for facilitating communication outside of school.
Additionally, we're aiming to create class-specific parent contact lists. This will make it easier for us to coordinate class-wide projects (like teacher gifts) and potentially organize outings.
If you have multiple children at Willett, please fill out the form once for each child. Don't forget to check the box if you're comfortable with your contact information being shared within the Willett Community. *No information will be shared without consent.

MA Mandated Screenings
All health screenings conducted in school are required by Massachusetts Law. Screenings are ongoing throughout the school year. Parents and legal guardians shall be provided with an opportunity to request, in writing, that their child not participate in the program. This request must be written each year and be specific to which screening you do not wish your child to participate.
Elementary Screenings are as follow:
Vision Screening
Vision screening is conducted for all grades K – 4. Parents are notified if the student does not pass for referral to their physician for follow-up.
Hearing Screening
Hearing screening is conducted for all grades K - 3. Parents are notified if the student does not pass for referral to their physician for follow-up.
Growth Development Screening
Growth screening is conducted for students in grades 1 and 4. Heights and weights are measured and calculated into BMI or Body Mass Index.
