Principal's Message

Dear Thacher Families,

On Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, our 3rd and 4th graders will be taking the ELA MCAS. Please talk to your children about making sure they keep the noise level down throughout the school during testing times to ensure that those taking the test are able to concentrate and do their best work without being distracted.

Also, while there is still plenty of school year left, we know families are starting to think about the upcoming summer vacation. We want to make sure everyone is on the same page with the end of school year dates. Assuming we don't have any freak snowstorms or other storms that result in school being cancelled, the official last day for students in grades 1-11 is Friday, June 20th. It is also an early release day. Don't forget, there is no school on Thursday, June 19th, in observance of Juneteenth.

Sincerely,

Frank Rich, Principal

4th Grade Parents/Guardians

Dear Parent/Guardian,

Students entering the 5th Grade at Middle Schools are required by law to have an updated physical examination. Please take the opportunity over the summer vacation to complete this task and send a completed physical examination form to the Middle School Nurse in August, before the start of school. If your student has a physical before June, please send a copy to your student’s current school.

Thank you for your cooperation!

Padres/Tutores de 4.º Grado

Estimado padre/tutor:

Vision/Hearing Screening Reminder

If you received a letter during the school year recommending that your child receive a comprehensive vision or hearing exam, please return all documentation of that exam to the School Nurse.  We will include this in your child's health record.  As you know, any vision or hearing difficulties will have a direct impact on your child's learning.

If you have any questions as to why your child was referred, please do not hesitate to call the School Nurse.

From the Gym

Over the next two weeks students at Thacher will be participating in our spring Thacher Olympic events. Are events include a variety of different skills. These events include a 40 yard dash, quarter mile run, softball throw, sit and reach, broad jump, and basketball hot shot. Students practiced these events in the beginning of the school year and now are competing against their own previous scores.

As for some, these events can become competitive for some students to compete against their friends and classmates. For others this is a great time for one's own personal achievement in an event. This also becomes a  great teaching moment of good sportsmanship in a winning and losing aspect.

Thank you for supporting your child’s physical education experience!
