Principal's Message

Dear Thacher Families,

Ms. Johnson's, Ms. Marcotte's, Ms. Ross' and Ms. Andrade's classes blew the doors off the auditorium with an amazing performance of "The Four Seasons" to close out our day and send us off the break! Mr. Chippo deserves a huge shoutout for preparing our performers so well and Ms. Maglione deserves one for the beautiful set design and costumes! Thank you everyone who was a part of today's performance. Please see below for video of the show.

It's hard to believe we've reached the final break of the 2024-25 school year. With our April break being a little later than normal, the final month and a half is going to feel like a sprint. Although we have plenty of fun activities planned for May and June, we still have plenty of learning left too. We hope everyone returns refreshed and ready for the final sprint.

As a reminder, there is no school tomorrow or the next week (4/21 - 4/25) as it is Spring Break.

Sincerely,

Frank Rich, Principal

Poetry Week

Thacher's Poetry Week celebration at our school was an absolute blast! Our hallways were transformed into poetic havens, thanks to the wonderful teachers who adorned them with verses for our enjoyable Poetry Walks. Each morning, we were greeted with the enthusiastic readings of poems by our talented student readers during announcements, setting the perfect tone for days filled with creativity and expression. In classrooms, students read and wrote various poetic forms like Acrostic, Haiku, and Diamonde poems, sparking imaginations and fostering appreciation for the beauty of language.  It was a celebration of poetry that filled our hearts with excitement and appreciation for the power of words and community!

Nurse note

4th Grade Parents/Guardians

Dear Parent/Guardian,

Students entering the 5th Grade at Middle Schools are required by law to have an updated physical examination. Please take the opportunity over the summer vacation to complete this task and send a completed physical examination form to the Middle School Nurse in August, before the start of school. If your student has a physical before June, please send a copy to your student’s current school.

Thank you for your cooperation!

Padres/Tutores de 4.º Grado

Estimado padre/tutor:

Vision/Hearing Screening Reminder

If you received a letter during the school year recommending that your child receive a comprehensive vision or hearing exam, please return all documentation of that exam to the School Nurse.  We will include this in your child's health record.  As you know, any vision or hearing difficulties will have a direct impact on your child's learning.

If you have any questions as to why your child was referred, please do not hesitate to call the School Nurse.

From the Art Room

Dear Thacher Families,

Spring has brought a burst of color and creativity to our art classes! Here's a quick look at the exciting projects our young artists have been working on this month:

  • Kindergarten students are combining Literacy and Art through their ABC art series. This month, they explored "E" for Egg and "V" for Violets in a Vase, expressing letter sounds through vibrant visual storytelling.

  • 1st Grade painted beautiful watercolor rainbow gardens, inspired by a read-aloud picture book that sparked their imagination and love for nature.  1st Grade also created expressive chalk pastel cats, drawing inspiration from the unique style of artist Paul Klee.  Their work shows bold color choices and playful patterns.

  • 2nd Grade has been hard at work designing costumes and set designs for a musical performance with Mr. Chippo.  The theme is "Seasons of the Year", and students worked together to bring each season to life through their thoughtful and creative designs.

  • 3rd Grade dove into Japanese culture by crafting colorful koi fish, honoring the tradition of Children’s Day celebrated in May. Their artwork reflects both cultural appreciation and artistic technique.

  • 4th Grade had a busy and vibrant month! They painted color wheels to explore color theory, used chalk pastels to create waterlilies inspired by Claude Monet, and experimented with optical illusion art to challenge their visual perception and creativity.

We are proud of our students' hard work and artistic growth. Thank you for your continued support of the arts in our school!

Creatively yours,
Ms. Maglione
