Principal's Message

Dear Thacher Families,

Our third and fourth graders worked hard on MCAS this week....we can't wait to see the results! The rest of the school deserves a big shoutout for doing such a good job keeping the building quiet to allow the third and fourth graders to do the test without distractions.

As a reminder, there is no school next Friday nor the following week (4/21 - 4/25) as it is Spring Break.

Sincerely,

Frank Rich, Principal

Sarah Desautel, Asst. Principal

PAWsitive Office Referrals

4th Grade Parents/Guardians

Dear Parent/Guardian,

Students entering the 5th Grade at Middle Schools are required by law to have an updated physical examination. Please take the opportunity over the summer vacation to complete this task and send a completed physical examination form to the Middle School Nurse in August, before the start of school. If your student has a physical before June, please send a copy to your student’s current school.

Thank you for your cooperation!

Padres/Tutores de 4.º Grado

Estimado padre/tutor:

Vision/Hearing Screening Reminder

If you received a letter during the school year recommending that your child receive a comprehensive vision or hearing exam, please return all documentation of that exam to the School Nurse.  We will include this in your child's health record.  As you know, any vision or hearing difficulties will have a direct impact on your child's learning.

If you have any questions as to why your child was referred, please do not hesitate to call the School Nurse.

🍎 This Month in Health & Wellness 🍎

Hello Thacher Families,

Spring is finally here!  Hopefully, some warmer weather will lead to more opportunities to play outside games that challenge our skills, sportsmanship, teamwork, and conflict resolution skills.  Games and sports are always a great way to build strong character, mental toughness, and to practice a growth mindset in challenging situations.  We’ve been lucky to have some classes in the gym this week, and I hope we’ll be able to get some field time soon for an upcoming handball-related games unit.

After finishing lessons on Nutrition, we’ve just started our Safety and Accident Prevention unit.  Upcoming topics include personal safety, helmets and seatbelts, playground safety, water safety, strangers, lice, ticks and mosquitoes, situational awareness, and more.

As always, both gross and fine motor movement skills are sprinkled throughout our lessons along with dancing, games, and mindfulness.  We’ve played Twister, tried different yoga poses, practiced hopping on one foot, built core and muscular strength with lots of squats, planks, pushups, and so much more!  I SO look forward to all of the fun events coming up in the following months, like Special Olympics, Field Day, and Grade 4 vs. Staff Kickball.  This time of the year always flies by with all the fun activities to keep us busy.

Last, and not least, we have completed our MARCH MADNESS FRUIT BRACKET!  16 fruits entered the tournament and every week two fruits competed against each other for our students’ votes.  Thacher’s favorite fruit is officially WATERMELON!  Honorable mention to our runner-up: Cherry.

Best,

Ms. Ashley Hanson
