Dear Families,
We wrapped up a great Read Across Thacher Week! It was wonderful to see so many students and staff celebrating reading (and in so many creative ways!)! While we love celebrating reading, we can't lose sight of the importance of reading for enjoyment every day and not just one week a year. If you haven't done so yet, I recommend you swing by our amazing and newly renovated Attleboro Public Library. All second graders throughout the district visit the library over the course of the year and receive their official library card. This means that all students in grades above 2nd, will already have a library card (assuming they attend APS schools in 2nd grade).
Although the current Punxsutawney Phil seems to be a better forecaster than his predecessors, we're going to bit a bit of a reprieve for at least next week. I mention it as our heating system is still working at full bore and when we have the unusual warm day, the classrooms can get quite warm so we recommend students dress in layers and make sure to have a water bottle in class.
Speaking of the weather, our historic blizzard has pushed back our last day for grades 1-12 and Kindergarten. Our new last days (barring any last-minute snow days) will be: Kindergarten: Friday, June 12th Grades 1-12: Friday, June 26th. Warm regards, Frank Rich, Principal Sarah Desautel, Asst. Principal |

On March 19, 2026, at 6:00 PM, Attleboro Public Schools (APS) will host A Night to Discover: APS Student Learning and Community Partnership Showcase. This annual event is an opportunity for APS staff, students, families, and community organizations to come together as students throughout the district display their learning experiences and local community resources share information about their services and programs. We look forward to seeing you there!

Families should have received an email from your child's middle school Principal. The email contains an important music survey for students to choose between band, chorus, etc. Please call the school if you did not receive this email, so we can ensure you receive the information and troubleshoot any issues with delivery. |

We celebrated Mr. Faria at our assembly this morning as he truly is our Snow Hero. He nearly literally lived here throughout the storm, battling snow drifts up to 5 and 6 feet tall. Our school campus was in incredible shape when we returned, and we knew we had to celebrate him for his amazing work. We presented him with a Golden Shovel and a card signed by the entire school. Thank you, Mr. Faria!!!! |

This Week in Physical Education |
|
|
Over the past few weeks in Physical Education, students have been working on our hockey unit. We spent one week focusing on skills and drills, where students practiced stickhandling, passing, shooting, and learning the basic rules and safety expectations of the game. The following week, students applied those skills in small-sided games, emphasizing teamwork, communication, sportsmanship, and game strategy. It has been wonderful to see their confidence and improvement grow from practice to gameplay.
This week, we have begun our dance unit, focusing on theme movements and rhythm. Students are learning choreographed dances to popular songs such as the Cha-Cha Slide, Cupid Shuffle, and Cotton Eyed Joe. Our younger students are also having a great time learning the classic Y.M.C.A. Through dance, we are building coordination, listening skills, timing, and confidence. A friendly reminder:
With winter still here, please remember that students need to have sneakers for PE class. Snow boots/ crocs make it difficult and unsafe for students to participate in the many running, movement, and skill-based activities we do each day. Students are welcome to bring sneakers to school and change out of their boots/crocs before gym. Thank you for helping us keep everyone safe, comfortable, and ready to move! If you ever have any questions or concerns please feel free to reach out at any time! Mr. Ryan Henry
