Principal's Message

Dear Families,

We want to take a moment to thank a few staff members and students who made this past Monday evening's presentation at the School Committee unforgettable. Mr. Henry and Mr. Rendell's work in helping us become an official Unified Champion School is inspiring and enriching the lives of everyone here at Thacher. Mason Tardie, Cecelia Gousie, Anacarolina Perez Sanz, and Abigail Oliveira did an outstanding job of sharing the wonderful ways this work has impacted them. And lastly, thank you to the Warui family for not only sharing your story but showing why this work is so important. We are so fortunate to have such wonderful staff, students, and families, and we're proud to get to be a part of their school community.

Have a wonderful break...stay warm!

Warm regards,

Frank Rich, Principal

Sarah Desautel, Asst. Principal

2025 DESE School Report Card

Dear Families,

Every year, each public school and school district in Massachusetts receives a report card. Just as your child’s report card shows how they are doing in different subjects, the school’s report card is designed to show families how our school is doing in different areas. A link to our school’s report card is available by clicking: TES 2025 School Report Card.

The report card includes multiple measures of a school’s performance – more than just MCAS scores. It represents a new way of looking at school performance, by providing information on student achievement, teacher qualifications, student learning opportunities, and more.

Report cards are designed to be useful tools for everyone connected to our school. Families can use the information to have meaningful conversations with us about what the school is doing well and where there is room for improvement. Community and education leaders can use the information to better understand how to support students and our school.

You will notice on our report card that our student growth in ELA is stronger than both the district’s and the state’s student growth. To improve student performance in our school, we are shifting our focus to our math instruction, where we are implementing a new program, i-Ready, which we hope will help us mirror our positive results in ELA. We encourage you to become involved in helping us improve our school. We see parents as critical partners in the success of our students and school, and we are grateful for your continued support.

Finally, if your child attends a school that receives federal Title I funds, you also have the right to request the following information about the qualifications of your child’s classroom teachers:

Whether your child’s teacher is licensed in the grade levels and subject areas they teach,

Whether your child’s teacher is teaching under an emergency license or waiver,

The college degree and major of your child’s teacher, and

Whether your child is provided services by paraprofessionals and, if so, their qualifications.

If you have questions about our school’s report card, would like to become involved in school improvement activities, or would like to request information about the qualifications of your child’s classroom teacher, please contact me by either calling the school or emailing: frich@attleboroschools.com.  To see our district’s report card or to search for other schools’ report cards, visit reportcards.doe.mass.edu.

Sincerely,

Frank Rich, Principal

Arrival & Dismissal Safety Reminder

To help keep our students and staff safe during arrival and dismissal, please remember that only school buses and approved vehicles may drive through the bus line. The car drop-off line should be used by the vast majority of families (approximately 99%).

A small number of students require specific accommodations and have been granted permission to be dropped off in the bus line. If you have not received prior approval, please continue to use the car drop-off line. Our staff on duty have been notified of who those families are.

We kindly ask all families to be patient and respectful of our staff, who are working hard to ensure that every student arrives and departs safely each day. Thank you for your cooperation and support in keeping our school community safe.

ST Math

Congratulations to Youssef Andrawes, Elle Brooks and Stephen Hurd for completing 100% of their ST Math journey!

This Month in Physical Education

Hello Thacher Families,

Our students just finished their basketball unit and have moved on to floor hockey and net games. We have enjoyed the competitiveness that basketball brings and the camaraderie that develops.

Unified Sports:

Our Unified Sports program here at Thacher has been going incredibly well.  Thacher is a TRUE Unified school, especially in the Physical Education settings.   We integrate students with disabilities into our Gym classes as much as possible and reverse-integrate students into our adapted special education classes as well.  This program is a win-win for everyone involved!  Thatcher's Unified program was spotlighted at the school board meeting this past week!  Very exciting! I am soooo proud of our kiddos!!!

Thank you for your ongoing support!

Mr. Danny Rendell

Yearbooks

We're ready to take orders for this year's yearbook! However, we're still in the process of creating our annual yearbook and could use your help. If you have any photos that you may have taken at school events that you feel might be a good addition to the yearbook, please use this PHOTO link to upload them.

Please use this YEARBOOK link to place an order. The deadline to order isn't until April 17th.

4th GRADE FAMILIES ONLY: We provide each of our 4th graders with a yearbook, free of charge, as part of our gift as they depart for the middle schools. You DO NOT need to place an order. However, if a sibling in a younger grade wants their own copy, the family would need to use the link above to place that order.
