Principal's Message

Dear Families,

It’s such a joyful time of year here at school, and the students are bringing so much excitement and energy into the building each day. As we move into the week of December 8–12, we’re looking forward to continuing that sense of warmth, community, and togetherness.

This season means many different things to our families, and we’re grateful for the traditions, celebrations, and moments of kindness that make our school community so special. No matter how you observe this time of year, we hope it brings you peace, connection, and plenty of reasons to smile.

As the days get colder, please remember to send students with warm layers so they can enjoy outdoor recess whenever the weather allows.

Wishing everyone a wonderful week ahead filled with warmth, joy, and community.

Warm regards,

Frank Rich, Principal

Sarah Desautel, Asst. Principal

Articifial Intelligence

The District AI Task Force is launching a short survey to learn how families are using artificial intelligence, what questions you may have, and what supports would be most helpful. Your feedback will help the district create clear expectations, build shared understanding, and ensure our approach to AI is safe, responsible, and aligned with community needs.

Please take a few minutes to complete the Family AI Survey at the link below. Thank you for contributing your voice.

As we begin the next term of the school year, we want to take a moment to remind everyone about the critical importance of school attendance. Research shows a strong connection between consistent attendance and academic success. When students are absent, they miss learning opportunities, access to resources, and connections with peers and teachers. These absences add up and can significantly impact your student's progress.

While we recognize the importance of family time, cultural experiences, and enrichment activities, we urge families to weigh these opportunities against the impact of missed instructional time. Also, absences due to vacations or extracurricular activities/events are considered unexcused under district and state attendance guidelines.

If you have any questions about attendance or need support ensuring your child is in school, please feel free to contact us. We are here to support you and your child's success.

Thank you for your continued partnership in your child's education.

Food Drive

We were blown away by your generosity in sending in items for our yearly Food Drive. It's another example of how much our community looks out for one another. Thank you!!!

🍎 This Month in Health & Wellness 🍎

Hello Thacher Families,

The colder weather has arrived and so have the coughs and runny noses! Our Hygiene and Healthy Habits lessons are underway and students are learning the ins and outs of hand washing, germs, body systems, dental health, sleeping, limiting screen time, and the importance of exercise.  We’re putting skills into practice to help build and support a healthy immune system with hand washing practice in the classroom and different exercise stations, including an introduction to light weight dumbbell and kettlebell exercises!  As the colder months arrive, we’re learning ways to exercise inside while still having fun.

Throughout November, we focused on social skills and qualities of healthy relationships.  Many students acted or participated in social skits to practice conflict resolution, standing up for yourself, using an assertive voice (as opposed to being passive or aggressive), and how to resist peer pressure.  Students also explored the importance of body language and what message our face and body may be communicating in different situations.

Although the holiday season is often full of joy, wonder, and excitement, it can also be a stressful time.  When we come back from vacation, we will work on coping strategies and stress management, along with goal setting and the power of affirmations.  I wish for a happy, healthy, and relatively stress-free holiday vacation to all of our wonderful students and families!

Best,

Ms. Ashley Hanson, Health & Wellness specialist
