Principal's Message

Dear Thacher Families,

Next week is a very exciting one with our Fall Spirit Week, which includes allowing students to wear their costumes to school on Halloween. We recognize that not all families celebrate the holiday and we don't want to exclude any students from a school-wide spirit day, so we made sure there were plenty of ways for students to participate. They can:

  • Wear fall colors (orange, black, red, yellow, etc)

  • Dress up like their favorite book character

  • Wear their Panda Gear

  • Wear their Halloween Costume (no masks, weapons or gore)

Students should come to school dressed in whatever option they choose. It isn't possible for our staff to assist nearly 500 students getting into their great. Looking forward to seeing the school awash in spirit next week!

For the safety of our students and staff, it is imperative that visitors enter the building through the bus loop entrance. At the bus loop entrance visitors must ring the buzzer and wait for the clerks to answer.

AHS Athletic Events Update

Attleboro Families:

Attleboro High School greatly appreciates the support of families at all AHS sporting events.  Recently, a large number of middle school and some elementary students have attended AHS athletic events (football/volleyball) games without parental supervision.  While the majority of students are there to watch the games and enjoy the event, a number of students have been left/dropped off unsupervised. This has created safety concerns and disruptions for other fans in attendance.

Moving forward, ALL middle school aged students and younger MUST be accompanied by an adult at all high school events.  We appreciate your support keeping all in attendance supervised while allowing an enjoyable environment for all.

Please know this expectation is currently in place for AHS events moving forward.

We look forward to seeing you all soon.

Thank you.

Kate Campbell- AHS Principal

We would like to show our appreciation for the TES/ELC community members who have served our country through a parade. The TES/ELC student connected to the active military/veteran will get to walk the parade route with their service member. After the parade, there will be a quick reception for our veterans/active service members in the cafeteria.

DATE CHANGE: Due to unforeseen circumstances, we needed to move the date of the Harvest Festival to November 8th.

Our PTO needs your help to make this year's Harvest Fest a success. We know people are sometimes reluctant to help out at events as they would like to enjoy the night with their family. In an attempt to give you the best of both worlds:

Helping out our PTO

Getting to enjoy the event with your family

We have broken the event up into smaller time blocks. Our hope is that you find a block you can volunteer for and then be with your family for the rest.

This Week in Physical Education

Hello Thacher Families,

Students have wrapped up our General Health Unit and have shown their understanding through a team game show challenge!  Going forward, we’ll be diving deeper into the four dimensions of wellness: physical health, emotional health, social health, and intellectual health.

These past few weeks, we have focused on the dimension of social health with the following topics by grade level:

Kindergarten - Learning to Listen, Making New Friends, Healthy Relationship, Kind Words, Zones of Regulation

Grade 1 + Project Success - Expressing Feelings, Sharing Strengths, Building Relationships, Standing Up For Myself, Zones of Regulation

Grade 2 - Asking For Help, Qualities of a Good Friend, Unsafe Suggestions, Bullies, Bystanders, and Victims

Grade 3 - Resolving Conflicts, Healthy and Unhealthy Friendships, Healthy and Unhealthy Influences, Assertiveness and Bullying

Grade 4 - Reading Body Language, Respecting Individual Differences, Resisting Peer Pressure, Standing up For Others

Our Insights Classrooms have been working on building routines, identifying preferred items during break times, identifying feelings, exercises and stretches, and identifying breakfast foods and their sight words.  We’ve also practiced dialing 9-1-1 on fake phones, emergency vs. non-emergency (small problem) situations, and identifying community helpers.

Zones

All classes are also learning about the skeletal system with the introduction to the names of different bones.  Grade 4 has been working on full skeleton system labeling and assembling through chromebook activities.  Our first three major bones are pelvis, skull, and femur.  Keep an eye out for a collection of student classwork coming home before the end of Term 1!

For those that celebrate, I wish you all a safe and fun Halloween! Try not to eat too much candy and make sure to brush your teeth! 🙂 Please feel free to reach out if you ever have a question or concern, or if you are interested in scheduling a parent-teacher conference during the next week.

Best,

Ms. Ashley Hanson

Be on the lookout for the Attleboro Public Library Community Read Passport coming home in your child’s backpack. Students can use these passports to collect stamps at the various community reading events held throughout the school year. Once the passports are filled, they can bring them to school or to the public library to receive special recognition at the summer reading kick-off in June.  All events will be listed on the calendar at attleborolibrary.org. The first event is on Monday, Oct 28 @6:30 pm.
