Principal's Message

Dear Thacher Families,

The cold blast of winter has definitely reminded us what January in New England feels like! It looks like the start of next might be some of the same but just a reminder if the "feels like" temperature is above 25 then students will go out for recess.

We did want to follow up on the medical emergency email we sent out this week. We received a few phone calls after the message went out and wanted to assure everyone that if your child had a medical emergency at school, you would be contacted directly before we sent messaging out to the community.

Our second graders enjoyed their yearly trip to the Attleboro Public Library this week, where they got learn more about the Attleboro Public Library and its systems.

It's hard to believe but Monday will be the 90th (halfway) point in the school year. We'll celebrate with a 90s themed spirit day.

This Month in Health & Wellness

Hello Thacher Families,

Winter weather is in full swing, and so are our conversations about hygiene!  Students have been encouraged to wash their hands regularly (and thoroughly), to use hand sanitizer before eating, cover their coughs, and to avoid touching their mouth and face.  We have also had lessons on basic hygiene skills, brushing and flossing, getting 10-12 hours of sleep, managing stress, and coping with troublesome emotions, such as frustration, anger, sadness, or grief,  in healthy ways.  As always, dancing and exercising are sprinkled throughout our lessons to add movement and fun!

For any March Madness fans, we are also voting for Thacher's favorite fruit every week.  16 fruits are competing for the #1 spot on our bracket - results coming soon!

I hope everyone is enjoying our winter months! Please feel free to reach out if you ever have any questions or would like to chat. 🙂

High School Events

Attleboro Families:

Attleboro High School greatly appreciates the support of families at all AHS sporting events.   While most students are there to watch the games and enjoy the event, a number of students have been left/dropped off unsupervised. This has created safety concerns and disruptions for other fans in attendance and game management staff.

Moving forward, ALL middle/elementary school aged students and younger MUST be accompanied by an adult at all high school events.  We appreciate your support keeping all in attendance supervised while allowing an enjoyable environment for all.

Please know this expectation is currently in place for AHS events moving forward.

We look forward to seeing you all soon and thank you for supporting AHS!

Thank you.
