Principal's Message

Dear Thacher Families,

We'd like to pass along our sincere thank you to the Thacher community for helping our "Friends Helping Friends Laps 4 LA" fundraiser we ran today. We loved seeing our students working together to support others in need. Thank you to Mr. Rendell and Mr. Henry for creating this event that raised $947.39 with ALL donations received will be going to: American Red Cross, Los Angeles Region. In exciting news, Channel 10 Providence came to cover the event and the reporter believed the segment would run on the 5:30 news. Make sure you tune in!

This Week in Physical Education

In the start of 2025 Thacher students have been introduced to basketball. Throughout the unit, we focus on teaching the fundamental aspects of basketball, such as dribbling, shooting, passing, and basic defense. We also introduce the basic rules of the game to ensure that students understand how to play in a structured and fun environment. The goal is not only to improve their athletic abilities but also to encourage cooperative play and build confidence in their abilities. Within just a few weeks, the overall progress from students has taken leaps and bounds in some of these skills.

Students have been participating in a variety of small sided games practicing on the fundamentals of basketball. Next week we will begin shooting the basketball working on “BEEF” (Balance Eyes Elbow Follow through). With shooting, we will also begin to start playing 3v3 basketball working on our triple threat options. Additionally, students are becoming familiar with the basic rules of the game, including how to move without the ball, how to play defense, and the importance of good sportsmanship. We are encouraging every student to participate, regardless of their skill level, and to focus on improving their individual abilities while also contributing to the success of their team.

If you ever have any questions or concerns please feel free to reach out at anytime!

High School Events

Attleboro Families:

Attleboro High School greatly appreciates the support of families at all AHS sporting events.   While most students are there to watch the games and enjoy the event, a number of students have been left/dropped off unsupervised. This has created safety concerns and disruptions for other fans in attendance and game management staff.

Moving forward, ALL middle/elementary school aged students and younger MUST be accompanied by an adult at all high school events.  We appreciate your support keeping all in attendance supervised while allowing an enjoyable environment for all.

Please know this expectation is currently in place for AHS events moving forward.

We look forward to seeing you all soon and thank you for supporting AHS!

Thank you.
