Message from the Principal

What a week we had! It was great to see so many smiling faces back at school. Students seem excited to be back and are jumping into their new classroom routines. Everyone is working hard and doing their best to be Studley Stars.

Over the next couple of weeks, we will be conducting our fall assessments to see where the students are. The information we get from these assessments will help us develop plans to best meet their needs. Our goal this year will be to increase independence, stamina and overall student ownership in the classroom.

As many of you know, we put a lot of effort into collecting information from the family survey last year. We used the data to look for trends and develop ways to address some of the feedback. We will be sharing this update at our PTO meeting on Wednesday.

Next week we get ready to welcome our new Kindergarten class. We are excited for our youngest Studley Stars to join us and look forward to all the growing they will do this year.

Kindergarten Orientation

Tuesday, September 10th is Kindergarten Orientation. This is an opportunity for you to meet your child's teacher, see their classroom and get a sense of the learning environment where your child will be spending their days. The teachers will share important information for a successful Kindergarten year! It is also an opportunity for you to ask questions and take pictures of them. Please remember you will not be able to come into the classrooms or take pictures on Wednesday, so soak it all up on Tuesday.

NEW ASPEN LOGIN SCREEN

On Friday evening, the login screen for Aspen will be getting an updated look... but don't worry, you'll still use the same login and password to access the site as usual. This new login screen is the first part in a series of upgrades designed to make the site more secure for families, students, teachers, and staff. If you have any questions, please contact the office.

Arrival and Dismissal

Arrival begins at 8:30AM, and the bell rings at 8:45AM. This means school starts promptly at 8:45AM, after which students will be marked tardy. All students who are tardy will need to be buzzed into the office with an adult. It is important to arrive at school on time daily in order to set your child up for a successful day.

Please click on the link for a description of our Arrival and Dismissal Protocols. Our staff has a structured system designed to keep everyone safe. Please follow the guidance and direction of staff members. For our returning families, please be patient with our new families and help guide them through our routines. It really does make a difference!

Changes to Dismissal Plan

If your child is going to go home DIFFERENTLY than their typical way or getting dismissed early, please notify the school as soon as possible:

For planned changes or dismissals, you can (choose one):

  • send a handwrititen note

  • send an email to the teacher and cc idamiani@attleboroschools.com

  • call the office at 508-222-2621

For unexpected/same day changes or dismissals after the school day starts:

Since the teachers are instructing students, we cannot guarantee they will see your email, which is why we ask you to contact the office after the school day starts. We know unforeseen circumstances come up, but we ask that you do your best to call before 2:00PM.

  • Please call the office at 508-222-2621 or

  • Email idamiani@attleboroschools.com.

Breakfast and Lunch

Similar to last year, breakfast and lunch is provided free of charge. You can find food menus on the website at https://www.fdmealplanner.com/#Attleboro.

Breakfast:

For those students who need to eat breakfast, we ask that you drop them off at 8:30AM. We try to get them back to class for the start of school at 8:45AM. This helps them start the day on time with all their classmates.

Lunch:

Please review lunch choices with your child, and make sure there is something they will like. For younger students, talk to them about which choice they want, so making the choice in the classroom is easier for them.

Communication

Communication is key. We are all on the same team. If at any time you have any questions or concerns, please reach out. We ask that your child's teacher ALWAYS be the first point of contact. They often have more information and can best answer your questions.

Studley Star: Each week, you will receive communication from the school sharing important news and updates. Please be sure to read it, so you are up to date on the happenings at school.

APS Mobile App/Rooms: Please be sure you download the Attleboro Public Schools mobile app. This application features Rooms, which is the platform that allows teachers and administration to communicate with families. If you need help with this, we will have support at our Meet and Greet.

School Issued Devices

We will be checking in devices this week. We will reach out to the families directly if your child is missing their chromebook and/or charger.

Attendance

The best way for your child to be successful is to come to school. They cannot learn if they are not in school. We understand there are illnesses and family situations that come up, and of course we want to support those. We do not want students coming to school when they are sick. However, it is important to note that we take attendance seriously and work together with families to ensure a successful year. We appreciate your cooperation and understanding.

Absences/Dismissals

If your child is going to be absent:

  • send a handwrititen note

For planned dismissals, you can (choose one):

  • send a handwritten note

  • send an email to the teacher and cc idamiani@attleboroschools.com

  • call the office at 508-222-2621

For unexpected/same day dismissals after the day starts:

Please call the office at 508-222-2621 or email idamiani@attleboroschools.com. Since the teachers are instructing students, we cannot guarantee they will see your email, which is why we ask you to contact the office after the school day starts.
