Studley Star

We are excited for the 2024-2025 school year and are ready to welcome all our friends back. As always, our staff have been working hard to prepare for a smooth opening. We hope you all have had a restful summer and are equally excited to get back to a routine filled with lots of things Studley!

We have many new families joining our Studley family. To all of you - welcome! We hope you find Studley a welcoming community - one in which we strive to collaborate for the best outcomes for all students.

This newsletter contains information for back to school. Please keep it handy and refer to it as needed. It is important to note that there are specific protocols and routines that we follow in order to keep our students safe. It is extremely important that everyone follows them. Together, we can work collaboratively to make everything run smoothly.

Meet and Greet/Supply Set up

You and your child (grades 1-4) are invited to meet their new teacher on August 28th. Kindergarten will have this opportunity during orientation. The purpose of this event is to meet the teacher, see the classroom, and set up any supplies you may have. We have found this to be a great opportunity to ease some of the back to school nerves for students (and some parents 😉). In order to make this a success, please read the following:

  • Please keep to the times on the schedule.

    • Our schedule allows for the time slots slated for each grade levels. Teachers are involved in other meetings throughout the day. We cannot accommodate anyone who arrives early or late.

  • Please visit only your child's teacher.

    • Although we love seeing former students, this is not the time to pop in and visit. Teachers need to be focused on their incoming students and their families.

Schedule:

  • Grades 1 and 2 - 1:45-2:10

  • Grades 3 and 4 - 2:15-2:40

PTO Back to School Bash

Our PTO is hosting a Back to School Bash on the Studley field for all our incoming Studley students, including Kindergarten. This event is an opportunity to meet and socialize with old and new friends before the start of school. The event will be 2:00PM-4:00PM. We hope to see you there. There will be a special GUEST ready to meet our students!

Election Day - September 3rd

September 3rd is the first day of school and Primary Election Day in Massachusetts. Many of you may already know that Studley is a polling site for all elections for the City of Attleboro.

Similar to last year, we have a plan to ensure everybody can get in and out of the school safely during the elections. The drop-off and pick-up routines will remain the same for students. Voting will take place in the gymnasium, which means this area will be closed to students and staff while school is in session. We are able to keep that area closed and separate from the rest of the building.

During school hours, voters will not have any access to any other parts of the school, and the doors will remain closed with a polling worker and an Attleboro police officer located at them.

Arrival and Dismissal

Arrival begins at 8:30AM, and the bell rings at 8:45AM. This means school starts promptly at 8:45AM, after which students will be marked tardy. All students who are tardy will need to be buzzed into the office with an adult. It is important to arrive at school on time daily in order to set your child up for a successful day.

Please click on the link for a description of our Arrival and Dismissal Protocols. Our staff has a structured system designed to keep everyone safe. Please follow the guidance and direction of staff members. For our returning families, please be patient with our new families and help guide them through our routines. It really does make a difference!

Dismissal Plan

Please take a moment to fill out a dismissal plan for EACH child. This will help us prepare for the first few days of school to make sure students get home the right way.

You can find the form here: https://forms.gle/W8hChheycxmT3yAy9

Changes to Dismissal Plan

If your child is going to go home DIFFERENTLY than their typical way or getting dismissed early, please notify the school as soon as possible:

For planned changes or dismissals, you can (choose one):

  • send a handwrititen note

  • send an email to the teacher and cc idamiani@attleboroschools.com

  • call the office at 508-222-2621

For unexpected/same day changes or dismissals after the school day starts:

Since the teachers are instructing students, we cannot guarantee they will see your email, which is why we ask you to contact the office after the school day starts. We know unforeseen circumstances come up, but we ask that you do your best to call before 2:00PM.

  • Please call the office at 508-222-2621 or

  • Email idamiani@attleboroschools.com.

Breakfast and Lunch

Similar to last year, breakfast and lunch is provided free of charge. You can find food menus on the website at https://www.fdmealplanner.com/#Attleboro.

Breakfast:

For those students who need to eat breakfast, we ask that you drop them off at 8:30AM. We try to get them back to class for the start of school at 8:45AM. This helps them start the day on time with all their classmates.

Lunch:

Please review lunch choices with your child, and make sure there is something they will like. For younger students, talk to them about which choice they want, so making the choice in the classroom is easier for them.

Communication

Communication is key. We are all on the same team. If at any time you have any questions or concerns, please reach out. We ask that your child's teacher ALWAYS be the first point of contact. They often have more information and can best answer your questions.

Studley Star: Each week, you will receive communication from the school sharing important news and updates. Please be sure to read it, so you are up to date on the happenings at school.

APS Mobile App/Rooms: Please be sure you download the Attleboro Public Schools mobile app. This application features Rooms, which is the platform that allows teachers and administration to communicate with families. If you need help with this, we will have support at our Meet and Greet.

School Issued Devices

As a reminder, in case you need to start searching, returning students in grades 3 and 4 are expected to return their school issued device and charger which were sent home in June. Students who do not return one or both of these items will be charged a fee.

Attendance

The best way for your child to be successful is to come to school. They cannot learn if they are not in school. We understand there are illnesses and family situations that come up, and of course we want to support those. We do not want students coming to school when they are sick. However, it is important to note that we take attendance seriously and work together with families to ensure a successful year. We appreciate your cooperation and understanding.

Absences/Dismissals

If your child is going to be absent:

  • send a handwrititen note

  • send an email to the teacher and cc idamiani@attleboroschools.com

  • call the office at 508-222-2621

For planned dismissals, you can (choose one):

  • send a handwritten note

  • send an email to the teacher and cc idamiani@attleboroschools.com

  • call the office at 508-222-2621

For unexpected/same day dismissals after the day starts:

Please call the office at 508-222-2621 or email idamiani@attleboroschools.com. Since the teachers are instructing students, we cannot guarantee they will see your email, which is why we ask you to contact the office after the school day starts.
