Thank you to everyone who came out to Welcome Back Night. It is great to see so many students proudly show off their school. It was a great success. A big thank you to our PTO and all the volunteers who made the book fair happen. It takes a lot of time, planning, and organization. Our students and staff are very appreciative of you!
We have about 1/3 of the handbook signoffs. This is something we need from each student. Please follow the directions below if you have not done it yet. We are looking to have this done by Friday, October 4th.
Our first month of school has been focused on setting routines and creating environments where learning can happen. Building strong relationships with our students and families is incredibly important. It is the foundation of what we do. We will now dig into the work of creating plans to meet the needs of our students. As a staff, we will be reviewing our baseline data and making decisions to support and engage all. Our focus this year, as I have shared before, is fostering independence in our students and holding them to high expectations.
One of our goals this year is to communicate more about our curriculum and our plan to continue improving academics. On October 9th (at our next PTO), we will be doing a presentation on ST Math and Lexia. It is important for our families, especially our new ones, to understand the purpose of each and how we are using them. Hopefully, you are able to make it to learn more about this.
Have a great weekend!
Our conferences will be held on November 6th and 7th. We will be using Sign Up Genius to schedule conferences this year. I will be sending the links out early next week.
Dear Families,
We are pleased to inform you of Attleboro High School’s participation in the Massachusetts State Seal of Biliteracy for the 2024-2025 School Year. The Seal of Biliteracy is offered to any student who demonstrates proficiency in English and any other language, whether they speak or sign the language other than English at home or learned it at school or in the community. The State Seal of Biliteracy aims to:
Encourage students to study and master languages;
Certify attainment of biliteracy skills;
Recognize the value of language diversity;
Provide employers with a method of identifying people with language and biliteracy skills;
Provide universities with a method to recognize and give credit to applicants for attainment of high-level skills in languages;
Prepare students with skills that will benefit them in the labor market and the global society; and
Strengthen intergroup communication and honor the multiple cultures and languages in a community.
In order to earn the Massachusetts State Seal of Biliteracy, students must:
Demonstrate a high level of proficiency in English by earning a minimum score of 472 or higher on the Grade 10 ELA MCAS,
Demonstrate a high level of proficiency in a world language by attaining a minimum score equivalent to Intermediate-High on an assessment approved by the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education, and
Satisfy all other graduation requirements.
The Seal of Biliteracy with Distinction is available to students who:
Earn a score of 501 or higher on the Grade 10 ELA MCAS
Demonstrate a proficiency level of Advanced Low or higher on a Department-approved assessment, and
Satisfy all other graduation requirements.
We will be administering the ELA MCAS throughout the year including in November and March. We will also administer AAPPL (ACTFL Assessment of Performance toward Proficiency in Languages) Measure at select times during the school year.
We look forward to honoring the language expertise and diversity in our district through this initiative. If you have any further questions, please contact Robin Frank at rfrank@attleboroschools.com.
Sincerely,
Robin Frank
Assessment Coordinator
Attleboro Public Schools
Hello from the Studley Health Office!
I hope everyone's school year is going well. With the changes in weather inevitably bring illnesses so I wanted to remind you of the importance of keeping your child home when they are not well. This safeguards their health as well as that of their classmates and teachers. The Massachusetts Department of Public Health recommends the following guidelines to keep children home from school:
Fever: Temperature of 100.0 or greater - Your child must stay home for 24 hours after the fever has dropped and no fever reducing medication has been given in a 24 hour span of time.
Diarrhea: Your child must stay home until there is no more diarrhea for 24 hours.
Vomiting: Your child must stay home until vomiting has stopped for at least 24 hours.
Cold symptoms: Frequent cough, runny nose, sneezing (not necessarily associated with a fever)-Please use your best judgment when sending your child to school. Please remind your child to cough or sneeze into elbow and not into hands. Encourage frequent hand washing.
Contagious illnesses: (Strep throat*, conjunctivitis), Your child needs to have taken at least 24 hours of prescribed medication before coming back to school.
Rashes: Rashes need to be evaluated by a doctor to determine cause and treatment
* According to the Centers for Disease Control, the symptoms of strep may include:
Fever (100.0 or higher)
Sore throat with or without swollen, red tonsils
Difficulty swallowing
Headache, when combined with sore throat
Stomachache, when combined with sore throat
Body aches
It is important to note that not all sore throats are caused by strep throat, and a lab test is needed to confirm a strep infection.
We understand the difficulties that arise when keeping your child at home, but we urge you to prioritize their health and safety. With your cooperation, we can create a safe and healthy environment for everyone.
We will also soon begin state mandated health screenings which include vision, hearing and body mass index. These screenings are ongoing throughout the school year. Kindergarten students will start with vision screenings next week. Please refer to the APS Handbook, page 30, for further information.
We are looking for clean, lightly used, clothing donations of pants for the health office. Pants would preferably be elastic waist to accommodate all body shapes.
Thank you!

If you need an interpreter, you must inform your student's ELL Teacher by Tuesday, October 15, 2024.
Childcare will NOT be provided for this meeting. Children may attend and sit quietly at the table with their parents in the meeting.
Each family who attends will have the chance to win a GIFT CARD!

Picture day is on Tuesday, October 8th. Information should have been sent home. You can order online for convenience.
As of September 30, 2024, students that have not completed a Transportation Application will not be allowed to ride the bus. If a student is at a bus stop in the morning, they will be brought in to school but will not be able to take the bus home if they are not registered. There is no waitlist so any new applications will have a 72-hour turnaround for the bus to be assigned. Families can learn more and apply on the APS Transportation webpage.
Your child's GOLDEN TICKET should have come home this week. Keep it in a safe spot. Each week, the Feinstein Foundation selects a few tickets as their GOLDEN TICKET winners. The winner earns money for our school and other fun things! We have won in the past and look forward to possibly another winner this year.
Your Jr. Scholar Feinstein card also came home. This card rewards our Jr. Scholars discounts on various activities/entrance fees. Be sure to check them out and take advantage of the offerings.
For those who are not aware, we are a Feinstein Leadership School. A Feinstein Leadership School is a school that is part of the Feinstein Foundation, which was founded by Alan Shawn Feinstein in 1991. Feinstein Leadership Schools are committed to teaching students to be caring and compassionate, and to help others in their community.
Alan Shawn Feinstein passed away on September 7, 2024 after a long life of serving others and promoting good deeds. We are eternally grateful for all his support and kindness through the years. We will continue to lead by his example by showing kindness to others and doing good deeds.
Please review the student handbook and complete the sign off process in ASPEN. It is expected that all students have a parent/guardian complete this.
We are so lucky to be a Title 1 school. This allows us to provide purposeful interventions to support reading development in our students.
Please see these important newsletters for information about our Title I programming.
While we encourage the use of water bottles for hydration, we are asking that you are mindful of the size of the water bottle you are sending to school. Some of the bigger water bottles are difficult for students to carry and are constantly being knocked over in the classroom, causing work to be ruined.
In addition to the size of the bottle, we are asking that bottles be filled with water only. Water is a healthy choice that keeps the mind ready for learning. This will prevent sticky situations and unnecessary messes in the classroom. We appreciate your cooperation with this.
Arrival begins at 8:30AM, and the bell rings at 8:45AM. This means school starts promptly at 8:45AM, after which students will be marked tardy. All students who are tardy will need to be buzzed into the office with an adult. It is important to arrive at school on time daily in order to set your child up for a successful day.
Please click on the link for a description of our Arrival and Dismissal Protocols. Our staff has a structured system designed to keep everyone safe. Please follow the guidance and direction of staff members. For our returning families, please be patient with our new families and help guide them through our routines. It really does make a difference!
If your child is going to go home DIFFERENTLY than their typical way or getting dismissed early, please notify the school as soon as possible:
For planned changes or dismissals, you can (choose one):

Similar to last year, breakfast and lunch is provided free of charge. You can find food menus on the website at https://www.fdmealplanner.com/#Attleboro.
Breakfast:
For those students who need to eat breakfast, we ask that you drop them off at 8:30AM. We try to get them back to class for the start of school at 8:45AM. This helps them start the day on time with all their classmates.
Lunch:
Please review lunch choices with your child, and make sure there is something they will like. For younger students, talk to them about which choice they want, so making the choice in the classroom is easier for them.
Communication is key. We are all on the same team. If at any time you have any questions or concerns, please reach out. We ask that your child's teacher ALWAYS be the first point of contact. They often have more information and can best answer your questions.
Studley Star: Each week, you will receive communication from the school sharing important news and updates. Please be sure to read it, so you are up to date on the happenings at school.
APS Mobile App/Rooms: Please be sure you download the Attleboro Public Schools mobile app. This application features Rooms, which is the platform that allows teachers and administration to communicate with families. If you need help with this, we will have support at our Meet and Greet.
Be sure to join Studley and PTO Facebook pages:
For other important dates, please review our website as well as the district calendar -
The best way for your child to be successful is to come to school. They cannot learn if they are not in school. We understand there are illnesses and family situations that come up, and of course we want to support those. We do not want students coming to school when they are sick. However, it is important to note that we take attendance seriously and work together with families to ensure a successful year. We appreciate your cooperation and understanding.
