Principal's Message

Happy Last Day of School Everyone!

A huge congratulations to our staff and students for a FANTASTIC SCHOOL YEAR!

It has been such an honor serving in my first year as the principal here at Hyman Fine! Thank you for all of the messages of appreciation. I must thank Mrs. Scott and our staff for their continued support and dedication to our school, students, and families. I am truly lucky to be a part of this community, and I am looking forward to many more years to come!

Congratulations to our fourth-grade students who were recognized this week at our Sendoff Ceremony! We wish them all the best as they move on to Middle School next year! We will miss our fourth-grade students and families who are closing this chapter of elementary school! Remember, once a Hawk Hero, always a Hawk Hero- so we hope you will come back and visit! Check out our Sendoff Photos!

Please know that report cards were posted this afternoon in Aspen. Class placement for next year is identified in your child's report card. Be sure to read about our placement process below if you have any questions.

Class Placement Information 25-26

With new leadership often comes refreshed processes, and I’d like to take a moment to share our updated approach to class placement. Our goal in doing so is to provide clarity and insight into how we make these important decisions.

This process has been developed with great care, grounded in research and shaped through collaboration with colleagues across the district. At its core is a deep commitment to equity—ensuring that every class is balanced and that each student is placed in an environment where they can thrive.

When forming classes, we thoughtfully consider a range of factors: academic strengths and needs, behavioral profiles (including attention, independence, and teacher interaction), social-emotional development, and previous teacher experiences. Once we’ve created balanced groupings, we take further steps to ensure students have positive peer connections and that personality dynamics are well matched. While we can’t guarantee specific friend pairings, we strive to ensure each child has at least one familiar or compatible peer.

Only after establishing these balanced groupings do we assign teachers. This ensures that we’re matching students with teachers in a way that supports individual learning and growth. Our staff is also involved in reviewing placements to identify any additional insights or considerations.

Please know this process is both thoughtful and complex. Even small changes can affect the balance of an entire class. As a fellow parent, I understand how deeply you care about your child’s experience. I want to assure you that every member of our teaching team brings unique strengths and a deep dedication to student success.

Because of the care and complexity involved, we are unable to accept specific teacher requests. While we always welcome your perspective and input, we ask for your understanding as we make decisions in the best interest of all students.

Teacher Assignments

Your child’s teacher for the upcoming school year will be listed on their end-of-year report card. This approach, introduced last year, was met with positive feedback and helps families begin the summer with clarity and peace of mind.

Thank you for your partnership and support as we prepare for another great school year!

**There was an update made in regard to Kindergarten report cards which K families should have received an email about- you can expect your assignments on June 20th.

Here is the last group of Positive Principal Shout Outs for the 2024-2025 School Year! Mr. Weiss wanted to acknowledge a few more students who helped him to wrap up the end of the year Library organization! Thank you to some of the students who helped support him over the last two weeks! As always, we are so proud of our students who continue to demonstrate Hawk Hero behaviors and make their classroom environments special for their teachers and peers! We can't wait to celebrate more of these students next year.

PTO Final Message

The PTO would like to thank everyone for their support this year, volunteering and attending events.  Due to the Hyman Fine communities generosity; we were able to make sure every classroom has an interactive TV, fund 4th grade lunch and moving up ceremony, offset the cost of 4th grade yearbooks, provide a week full of treats for teachers, host Holiday Bingo, buy books and supplies for One Book, supply materials for school cleanup; and so much more!

The PTO would like to once again like to Thank Jenn Rosa and Ben Chalot for their many years on the PTO board. The PTO has purchased 2 books and will be donating to them to the library; with a dedication sicker on the inside cover.

We look forward to planning many more events for next year over the summer! Be on the lookout for volunteer opportunities in September!
