Principal's Message

Can you believe we are one week away from Summer Vacation?! We have been having so much fun as we wrap up the end of the year!

Our fourth graders have visited prospective Middle Schools! They were invited to Wamsutta for a field day event and even wrapped up the week with their spring concert! It has been a bittersweet time of year for us but all in the spirit of making good memories. Our Sendoff Celebration will be held on Tuesday, June 17 at 9:30am. Fourth grade families were emailed earlier this week regarding details about the ceremony.

Next week is Spirit Week- Each day, students are welcome to dress in our spirit day theme. Please check out the details below!

Please note that Friday, June 20th is the last day of school. It will be a half day of school. Students will be dismissed at 12:20pm. No lunches will be served. It is important to note that there will be NO SCHOL on Thursday, June 19th.

Field Day Was a Huge Success!

Thank you to Coach Whitaker and Mr. Colantonio for coordinating another fantastic event for our students! A huge shout out to all of our family volunteers who helped us run stations! It was such a joy watching you coach students and cheer them on. Thank you to those of you who were able to stop by for the student lunch picnics. The students were thrilled to have their lunch outside with friends and families!

Items to Note:

Ride to School in a Fire Truck

On May 17th, Attleboro Fire partnered with Bliss Dairy for an Ice Cream Social to raise funds for the Muscular Dystrophy Association. The event featured a raffle for a fire truck ride to school and a lucky student from Hyman Fine won! The ride is scheduled for June 18th, so don’t be surprised if drop-off comes with a little extra excitement that morning!

Playground Update

Recently, we addressed an incident involving damage to our playground shed that occurred outside of school hours while school was not in session. The matter was reported to the Attleboro Police Department, and the school took steps to resolve the situation. The shed has since been repaired and lost or damaged materials are being replaced.

Mr. Colantonio has identified a few items that needed replacing. We are grateful to the families who have already helped by purchasing replacement items. Thank you for your generosity and support.

Class Placement Information 25-26

With new leadership often comes refreshed processes, and I’d like to take a moment to share our updated approach to class placement. Our goal in doing so is to provide clarity and insight into how we make these important decisions.

This process has been developed with great care, grounded in research and shaped through collaboration with colleagues across the district. At its core is a deep commitment to equity—ensuring that every class is balanced and that each student is placed in an environment where they can thrive.

When forming classes, we thoughtfully consider a range of factors: academic strengths and needs, behavioral profiles (including attention, independence, and teacher interaction), social-emotional development, and previous teacher experiences. Once we’ve created balanced groupings, we take further steps to ensure students have positive peer connections and that personality dynamics are well matched. While we can’t guarantee specific friend pairings, we strive to ensure each child has at least one familiar or compatible peer.

Only after establishing these balanced groupings do we assign teachers. This ensures that we’re matching students with teachers in a way that supports individual learning and growth. Our staff is also involved in reviewing placements to identify any additional insights or considerations.

Please know this process is both thoughtful and complex. Even small changes can affect the balance of an entire class. As a fellow parent, I understand how deeply you care about your child’s experience. I want to assure you that every member of our teaching team brings unique strengths and a deep dedication to student success.

Because of the care and complexity involved, we are unable to accept specific teacher requests. While we always welcome your perspective and input, we ask for your understanding as we make decisions in the best interest of all students.

Teacher Assignments

Your child’s teacher for the upcoming school year will be listed on their end-of-year report card. This approach, introduced last year, was met with positive feedback and helps families begin the summer with clarity and peace of mind.

I had LOTS of positive phone calls to make to this past week! I am so proud of all of these students and their individual accomplishments. Whether it be their academic growth or positive impact on our school community, they were beyond excited to visit my office and join me for phone calls to their parents! Thank you again for all that you do! Keep being HAWK HEROES!

Messages from the PTO

The PTO is excited to announce that we will be purchasing 10 interactive TVs with money raised from the Fun Run. This will outfit the remaining Hyman Fine Classrooms with interactive Tvs. This is a significant investment into Hyman Fine, and we are so happy to be able to do this!

We can't wait to see them in action next school year!

4th Grade Parents- please make sure to return the yearbook form and money to the office as soon as possible. 

The PTO would like to thank Jenn Rosa and Ben Chalot as they finish their final PTO terms; as they both have children moving on to middle school. They have given numerous years to the board and worked really hard chairing many events over the years! THANK YOU BOTH!

AGWOT - Monument Funding

Attleboro Global War on Terrorism (GWOT) Committee is working to fund and build a monument to honor and commemorate the brave men and women who have served, and are currently serving, in the conflict that followed the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001. This monument - a symbol of remembrance, gratitude, and respect - will serve as a gathering place for reflection, healing, and education, ensuring that the stories and sacrifices of our service members are never forgotten.  

The Committee is diligently working to raise $100,000 for a monument in beautiful Capron Park, near Veteran’s Triangle.  The projected dedication is planned for September 2025. The committee is looking for support with continued funding to support this initiative. Your help is greatly appreciated!
