Principal Message

Dear Fine Families,

This week, we proudly celebrated Staff Appreciation Week, and we want to extend a heartfelt thank you to our amazing PTO and families for helping make the week so special. From thoughtful notes and treats to acts of kindness and generosity, our staff truly felt appreciated and celebrated. We are incredibly fortunate to have such dedicated educators and support staff who give so much to our students each and every day.

We were also thrilled to enjoy our 3rd Grade Chorus Performance, where students entertained audiences with a wonderful selection of “Yacht Rock” tunes! Students performed beautifully for both their school peers and families, and it was clear how much hard work and enthusiasm went into the show. A special thank you to Mrs. Bedrosian for her continued dedication and for creating such a fun and memorable musical experience for our students. It was truly enjoyed by all!

To close out the week, we gathered together for our monthly Hawk Hero Assembly, where we celebrated students for demonstrating our core values and positive leadership throughout the school community. During the assembly, we also officially kicked off our exciting Fun Run fundraiser! Students received their Fun Run lanyards and learned more about this year’s goals to support playground updates and schoolwide enrichment opportunities. The excitement is already building, and we appreciate everyone’s support as we work toward our registration and fundraising goals together.

Please remember that next week, Grade 3 and Grade 4 students will participate in Math MCAS testing. We kindly ask that all students arrive at school on time so they are able to begin testing alongside their grade-level peers. We encourage a good nights sleep and a good breakfast. Thank you for your support in helping students start their day prepared and ready to do their best.

Also, please note that Friday, May 15th is a half day of school, and students will be dismissed at 12:25 PM.

Thank you, as always, for your continued partnership and support. We are looking forward to another wonderful week ahead at Hyman Fine!

This week, we are excited to celebrate five students with Hawk Hero Principal Shout Outs! These students are being recognized for being dependable helpers, responsible learners, and outstanding role models within our school community. Their positive attitudes, willingness to help others, and commitment to doing the right thing make a difference each and every day. We are so proud of the example they set for their classmates and grateful for the positivity they bring to our school. Keep shining, Hawk Heroes! 🦅✨

Way to go Michael (1), Savannah, 2, Kieren (2), Scarlett-Rose (1), and Kayson (2)!

Please Register For Our Hyman Fine Fun Run

The next few days are going to be filled with fun as we discover new worlds and work together to raise $35,000 for school-wide enrichment and playground upgrades at Hyman Fine Elementary School! Every student will participate in the fun through a character-building program, event day, and school incentives. Here are a few things you can do to help us reach our big goals!

👍 Register your student at MyBooster.com to join the fun. Search for “Hyman Fine Elementary School.”

💵 Donate and ✉️ share. We are encouraging every family to share their donation page with 10 people.

🎟️ When we reach our registration goal, EVERY STUDENT will get a day pass to Great Wolf Lodge! Plus, you’ll have the chance to win a night’s stay just for sharing your page!

🎁 Throughout the week, our class will earn fun rewards based on how much we raise on our classroom tracker. When our class earns a reward, this adds some extra awesomeness to our day. I will keep you updated!

📅✅Attendance Matters

A reminder to all families: Every school day matters for student success. While we recognize the value of family time, cultural experiences, and enrichment activities, families are reminded to consider the impact of missed class time. Vacation/extracurricular absences are unexcused and represent learning time that cannot be recovered.

If you have questions about attendance or need support, please reach out. We appreciate your partnership in your child's education.

                                             Spring Things…from the Health Office

Spring is here with sunny, warmer days and early emergence of pollen and molds that trigger seasonal allergies.  Children, who have never been diagnoses with seasonal allergies before, are often affected when the pollen/mold levels are high. Common symptoms include itchy/watery eyes, nasal stuffiness/drainage, scratchy throat, and headaches.  If your child suffers from allergy symptoms, please contact your doctor for advice on eye drops, nasal sprays, or an appropriate non-drowsy allergy medication that can be taken before school to provide all day relief from symptoms.

Poison Ivy is everywhere.  Contact with the oil from the plant’s leaf causes irritation and a red pimple-like rash.  Children should wear appropriate clothing to protect skin exposure to poison ivy, especially in wooded or grassy areas.  Showering after being outdoors is also a good practice to prevent irritation.  If a skin rash develops, over-the-counter medications such as calamine lotion or hydrocortisone cream will provide relief from minor symptoms.  When the rash affects the face or eyes, contact your doctor, as a prescription medication may be needed.  It is important to remove over-the-head clothing carefully to protect the face and eyes from contact with poison ivy on clothing.

As outdoor evening activities increase, the time of day when mosquitoes are most active, use of bug repellent can help prevent bites.  Ticks can be found in the woods, but also in low bushes, grass and on pets.  It is a good practice to check children and pets for ticks when they come in from outdoors.

Drinking enough fluids and good nutrition are very important during the warm weather as the body works harder to regulate temperature.  Please encourage your child to have a full glass of a beverage, water preferred, with breakfast and to bring a drink for snack and lunch.  Sunscreen can be applied in the morning since recess is usually outdoors, weather permitting.

Seeking New Book Fair Coordinator

We are looking for 1-2 individuals to take over the book fair. For the upcoming school year, the volunteers would shadow the current organizer and officially take on the role for the 2027-2028 school year. The ideal person(s) to take on this role would have several years remaining at Hyman Fine and must be available during the day and evening hours throughout the fair. This is a big fundraiser for our school as well as a favorite amongst the kids and staff so please consider helping out. Please reach out with any questions. If interested, please email the PTO at hymanfineelementarypto@gmail.com
