Dear Fine Families,
Another great week of teaching and learning here at school!
Earlier in the week, our first grade students took the stage for their Community Helpers performance on Wednesday, April 8th. Congratulations to our first graders on a job well done! We are so proud of their hard work and confidence. A special thank you to Mrs. Bedrosian and the entire first grade team for their dedication and support in bringing this wonderful performance to life.
We wrapped up the week with our Monthly Hawk Hero Assembly, a wonderful opportunity to come together and celebrate our students’ hard work and positive spirit.
During the assembly, we recognized the excitement and effort surrounding our March Madness-style challenges, including Battle of the Books and March Mathness. Students showed incredible perseverance, teamwork, and enthusiasm throughout these competitions. One of the highlights was a fun shootout between Jiji and Flash, which had everyone cheering!
We proudly celebrated our winning teams and recognized students for their determination and commitment during these challenges. Be sure to check out the winners and photos below to see all the excitement from this special event!
Looking ahead, we have several important events and reminders for next week. Our Scholastic Book Fair will be taking place—please be sure to review the schedule for your child’s shopping date and time. The PTO is also looking for parent volunteers to help make this event a success, so please check out the PTO section below if you are interested in volunteering.
On Wednesday, April 15th, students and staff are invited to wear purple or camo in recognition of Military Child Honor Day.
Multicultural Night is Thursday, April 16th from 5:30-7pm. We hope to see you there!
Please note that Friday, April 17th is a half day of school, with dismissal at 12:25 PM. There will be no lunch served on this day.
Lastly, a reminder that there will be no school the week of April 20th–April 24th for April Break.
Thank you, as always, for your continued support. We look forward to another great week ahead!

ST Math March Mathness Celebrations

We celebrated our ST Math March Mathness Challenge winners today with lunch/dance party in the Teacher’s Lounge. So fun! Mrs. Farland’s class came in first place followed by Mrs. Inglese’s class in second, Mrs. Killion’s class in third, and Mrs. Komejko’s Class is 4th. Way to go final four!
All Hyman Fine students worked hard to meet their ST Math minute and puzzle goals. One student was recognized in each classroom, by their teacher, for always giving their best effort and persevering even when learning gets difficult. They truly shined in this month long challenge. Congrats to all!

* The cold weather is upon us- please make sure your child is dressed appropriately (coats, hats, gloves etc.) for the weather. When weather allows, children will go out for recess and brain break.
* Please follow the school’s guidelines of when to keep your child home from school, as this will help to minimize the spread of illness.
School Guidelines are:

Your child must be fever free for 24 hours, without the use of fever reducing medication such as Motrin/ibuprofen or Tylenol/acetaminophen
Your child must be without vomiting for 24 hours.
If your child is placed on antibiotics s/he must complete 24 hours of dosing prior to returning to school.
* Health Screenings (Hearing & Vision) will begin in the Health Office next week and continue until completion. Please make sure your child has their glasses at school.
* If your child is prone to accidents, please keep a change of clothes in their backpacks. Donations of new boys’ and girls’ underwear are always appreciated.
