Principal's Message

Hello Fine Families,

A very important reminder that tomorrow, Sunday, March 9th is Daylight Savings. This is the season where we 'Spring Forward' and adjust our clocks one hour ahead. Although it may feel like we are losing an hour of sleep, we can look forward to more daylight in the evenings.

This week we welcomed families of incoming 2025-2026 Kindergarten Students! If you or someone you know has an entering Kindergarten student, please let them know that registration has opened! You will begin to notice updates on Facebook that pertain to our newest members! We are very excited to welcome them to our school community!

A Night to Discover is taking place this Wednesday, March 12th at 6pm. This is a district wide event where students from all schools and levels will come together to share their learning with the community. This event will be taking place at Attleboro High School. Come see the work of some of our students and students in our district. We hope to see you there!

I sent an email to families earlier this week in regard to Fun Run Sponsorships. Thank you to all who helped to contribute to our Sponsorships so far. I was amazed by the quick response and we are almost there! We still need a little more help so that all students and staff at Hyman Fine receive a free event shirt.  Business names and logos will be printed on all shirts. The deadline to sponsor is March 14th.  More details can be found below in our PTO section. We truly thank you for your support!

March 14th is the Someone Special Mardi Gras Dance, hosted by our PTO! Ticket sales have closed and will be sent home with students this week. Please remember that no tickets will be sold at the door.

Friday, March 14th is an Early Release Day! Students will be dismissed at 12:25 and remember that no lunch is served on early release days.

Lastly, I'd like to remind families that our car drop-off ends promptly at 8:45. Please understand that staff on duty must enter the building to begin instructional obligations. If you are arriving after 8:45am you will need to bring your child into the main entrance of our building. We appreciate your understanding.

Read Across America Week

Read Across

It was a wonderful week filled with lots of fun and exciting Spirit Days for Read Across America Week. Our goal is to help foster and instill a love and joy of reading for our students. Although we work to make this happen every day, we know that the special moments and events like these make all the difference. Our work isn't done, as we continue through the month with Battle of the Books our Author Bracket. Over the next few weeks, we will be reading books by various authors and voting on our favorites. We can't wait to share the winner later this month!

Please remember how important reading is both at school and at home. Creating or establishing reading routines at home can have a big impact on your child's reading success. Thank you for joining us in celebrating the importance of reading.

The reading fun will continue into next month with our Title 1 event- CAMP READ-A-LOT! Save the Date and we look forward to this very special literacy event!

SAVE THE DATE:

This week I was privileged to celebrate so many more fantastic students here at Hyman Fine with a Principal Shout Out! It has been so heartwarming to share with you, in just a brief phone call, how much your child is appreciated for their continued efforts in demonstrating core values, perseverance, and milestones! I am looking forward to many more of these phone calls and smiles.

Take a look at these Hawk Heroes! Some were recognized as models who respect their teachers and peers; some demonstrate responsibility for their learning and effort at school; others have made personal progress as they persevere to overcome challenging things. Way to go! I am such a proud principal!

Recess Ready

As we have mentioned before, it is important to ensure that your students are ready for recess each day. It is helpful to dress in layers and ensure that they have a warm coat as the colder days and winter months approach us. We will have outdoor recess as long as it is not raining and as long as the "feels like" or windchill is at least 25 degrees Fahrenheit.

Reminder

Attendance Matters

Your student's attendance is very important. The more time spent in school learning, the more academic progress and success students can make. Not to mention, it's fun to be with friends, learning, growing and playing together. Building good habits and routines for coming to school will help create a solid foundation for your students educational journey.

It is important to note that students are deemed Chronically Absent by the state when they reach 18 days out of school in a year. This includes both excused and unexcused days as it tallies the total number of days a student is out of school. It is still important to communicate reasons for absences, so please continue submitting doctors' notes when applicable. Communication from families helps us have a better understanding of absences and allows us to better support students and families. We will continue to communicate with families any updates regarding our attendance records and we appreciate your continued support.

Hello Hyman Fine Families,

It is that time of year where we typically see an increase in illness, and we would like to take an opportunity to remind parent/guardians of the importance of having up-to-date contact information at the school for us to reach you in a time of need.  in addition, we are asking that you have additional emergency contacts that are available to pick up the child if needed.

If the nurse calls for the student's dismissal, it is standard practice for the dismissal to occur within the hour.  Thank you in advance for your support so we can continue to provide the best care for all students.

Cold and flu season is upon us. In the graphic below you will find helpful tips and guidelines for addressing illness symptoms. When to send your child to school, keep them home, or even seek medical attention.

Additional note:  Please pack a change of clothes in your child's backpack for any unforeseen circumstance
