Principal Message

Dear Fine Families,

As we near the end of March, we are beginning to see signs of spring all around us. With warmer weather and brighter days ahead, there is a renewed sense of energy and excitement in our school.

Over the past several weeks, there has been so much meaningful learning and growth taking place in our classrooms. As we approach the close of Term 2, we are proud of the progress our students have made academically, socially, and emotionally. Families can expect report cards to be published in Aspen on the evening of Wednesday, March 25th, and we encourage you to take time to review and celebrate your child’s accomplishments.

We are also looking forward to a special event this week as our second-grade students take the stage for their performance on Tuesday, March 24th at 6:00 PM. We are excited for their families to see the results of their hard work and dedication, along with the incredible efforts of our wonderful music teacher, Mrs. Bedrosian. It is sure to be a fantastic evening!

As a reminder, due to snow days earlier this year, our updated end-of-year dates are as follows:

Grades 1–4: Last day of school will be June 26th (early release)

Kindergarten: Last day will be Friday, June 12th (full day)

Thank you, as always, for your continued support and partnership. We look forward to all the exciting moments the spring season will bring!

Wishing you all a wonderful weekend!

Suzy Dalessio, Principal

A NIGHT TO DISCOVER

We are so proud to be part of such an incredible community. Events like A Night to Discover remind us why the work we do every day matters so much. Seeing the creativity, curiosity, and dedication our students bring to their learning truly inspires us.

Hyman Fine was proudly represented as students showcased their learning in creative and engaging ways. A big thank you to fourth-grade teachers, Mrs. Pierce, Mrs. Hudzikiewicz , Mrs. Killion and their partnership with our Technology Coach, Mrs. Schiller, for supporting students in creating podcasts to share their learning about U.S. Regions. Students were excited to present their work to the community!

Kudos as well to our Library Paraprofessional, Mrs. Wilton and her partnership with Mrs. Schiller for highlighting student coding projects like Bot-lympics and Dashket-ball. The energy was contagious as students demonstrated their skills. Crowds even cheered as they launched and scored with just a few taps!

These experiences beautifully reflect our commitment to developing Balanced Learners, Communicators, Collaborators, and Innovators. We couldn’t be more proud of the hard work and dedication of both our students and staff.

We are proud to recognize another fantastic group of students as Hawk Hero Principal Shout Out recipients! These students consistently demonstrate what it means to be a Hawk Hero through their positive attitudes, strong effort, and thoughtful actions throughout the school day.

Each of these learners has shown meaningful growth, both academically and personally, as they continue to build confidence and take pride in their work. They come to school ready to learn, make responsible choices, and treat others with kindness and respect.

Our teachers are grateful for their dependability and the way they contribute to a supportive classroom community. It’s such a joy to celebrate so many students who are truly living our core values. Way to go, Hawk Heroes! 🦅✨

Congratulations Addison (3), Lilah (1), Amaia (K), Luciano (1), and Gabriel (3)

📅✅Attendance Matters

A reminder to all families: Every school day matters for student success. While we recognize the value of family time, cultural experiences, and enrichment activities, families are reminded to consider the impact of missed class time. Vacation/extracurricular absences are unexcused and represent learning time that cannot be recovered.

If you have questions about attendance or need support, please reach out. We appreciate your partnership in your child's education.

Hello Hyman Fine Families,

* The cold weather is upon us- please make sure your child is dressed appropriately (coats, hats, gloves etc.) for the weather. When weather allows, children will go out for recess and brain break.

* Please follow the school’s guidelines of when to keep your child home from school, as this will help to minimize the spread of illness.

School Guidelines are:

A temperature greater than or equal to 100.0

Your child must be fever free for 24 hours, without the use of fever reducing medication such as Motrin/ibuprofen or Tylenol/acetaminophen

Your child must be without vomiting for 24 hours.

If your child is placed on antibiotics s/he must complete 24 hours of dosing prior to returning to school.

* Health Screenings (Hearing & Vision) will begin in the Health Office next week and continue until completion. Please make sure your child has their glasses at school.

* If your child is prone to accidents, please keep a change of clothes in their backpacks. Donations of new boys’ and girls’ underwear are always appreciated.

Thank you!
