Principal's Message

Hello Fine Families!

We hadn't anticipated a four-day week this past week but due to our recent school cancelation our 101st Day will now be Wednesday, February 12th changing our Spots Day from Tuesday to Wednesday. We are so excited to celebrate being together, growing and learning for over 100 days. The flier has been updated below.

With every school cancelation we add another day in June. With that being said, our last day of school for students in grades 1-4 is now June 20th. Kindergarten will still end on June 6th unless 5+days are canceled. I don't want to speak too soon, but the forecast does show more snow this upcoming week. Regardless how the weather goes, we are excited for another great week of teaching and learning ahead!

Please remember that Friday, February 14th is Valentine's Day. We invite our students to wear Red, Pink, and or hearts to school. Friday is also a half day of school. Students will be dismissed at 12:25PM. No lunch will be served.

There will be NO SCHOOL the following week, February 17-21, for February vacation. School will resume on February 24.

Lastly, please take note- There is LOTS of news in the PTO section. We have Raffle Winners to to announce, events and special requests to read about. Don't miss this information in the PTO announcements below!

Enjoy your weekend!

We had so many students to celebrate this week. Students are recognized for many different reasons. Some for perseverance and overcoming challenges, others for their kindness, attention and care, but for many, their demonstration of RESPECT, RESPONSIBILITY, HONESTY and being READY TO LEARN. Thank you for all of your hard work Hawk Heroes! We are so very proud of you!

Way to Go Nurse Mages

Aside from being an extraordinary Nurse, Mrs. Mages is a very talented singer. She shared her beautiful talents with the whole school on Friday during our Hawk Hero Assembly, accompanied by Mrs. B, our music teacher on the piano. It was such a special treat!

Grade 3 & 4 News

Grade 3 & 4 MCIEA Student Survey

Each year, students in grades 3-12 participate in a survey as part of Attleboro's involvement in the Massachusetts Consortium for Innovative Education Assessment (MCIEA) which aims to help schools and the community measure school quality outside of simply relying on MCAS data. Our third and fourth-grade students will be participating in this year's survey between now and February break. The survey takes approximately 15-30 minutes and is done during class. If you would like to see the results of previous surveys/questions, please visit the MCIEA School Quality Measures Dashboard.

Recess Ready

As we have mentioned before, it is important to ensure that your students are ready for recess each day. It is helpful to dress in layers and ensure that they have a warm coat as the colder days and winter months approach us. We will have outdoor recess as long as it is not raining and as long as the "feels like" or windchill is at least 25 degrees Fahrenheit.

Attendance Matters

Your student's attendance is very important. The more time spent in school learning, the more academic progress and success students can make. Not to mention, it's fun to be with friends, learning, growing and playing together. Building good habits and routines for coming to school will help create a solid foundation for your students educational journey.

It is important to note that students are deemed Chronically Absent by the state when they reach 18 days out of school in a year. This includes both excused and unexcused days as it tallies the total number of days a student is out of school. It is still important to communicate reasons for absences, so please continue submitting doctors' notes when applicable. Communication from families helps us have a better understanding of absences and allows us to better support students and families. We will continue to communicate with families any updates regarding our attendance records and we appreciate your continued support.
