SHE'S BAAAAAAAACK

Principal Message

Dear Fine Families,

As we step into the final two days of school before our holiday break, the energy in our building is truly something special. Laughter, excitement, and festive spirit are filling our school community, and it has been such a joy to witness our students and staff embracing this season together.

I want to take a moment to share my sincere and heartfelt gratitude for our dedicated staff. Their care, creativity, and commitment to our students and families make our school a place where children feel supported and inspired every single day. I am deeply thankful for all they do and for the strong community we continue to build together.

In this season of giving, we are truly grateful for the generosity that shines so brightly throughout our school community. From donated food supporting families in need to the thoughtful gifts and items shared through our annual Giving Tree, your kindness has made a meaningful difference. These acts of care and compassion reflect the heart of our community and remind us how fortunate we are to support one another. Thank you for helping ensure that every member of our school family feels seen, supported, and celebrated during this special time of year.

As we celebrate these last days and look ahead to the New Year, here are a few helpful reminders to keep in mind:

📄 Report Cards
Please note that report cards will be available for viewing until December 24. Be sure to access them before that date.

Upcoming Spirit Days

🌟🎄4th Grade Holiday Show

A huge shout out to Mrs. Bedrosian and our fantastic fourth graders for a job well done! The Musical Extravaganza of How to Train Your Reindeer was a huge success! Congratulations and a heartfelt thank you to all who supported the production!

❄️☃️ Cold Weather Reminder

We go outside every day that the “feels-like” temperature is above 25 degrees, so please be sure to send your student with warm winter coats, hats, gloves or mittens, and appropriate footwear each day. Layering helps in keeping our students comfortable throughout the day!

If your family needs help finding winter gear, just reach out. No one should be cold on our watch!

📅✅Attendance Matters

A reminder to all families: Every school day matters for student success. While we recognize the value of family time, cultural experiences, and enrichment activities, families are reminded to consider the impact of missed class time. Vacation/extracurricular absences are unexcused and represent learning time that cannot be recovered.

If you have questions about attendance or need support, please reach out. We appreciate your partnership in your child's education.

A huge Principal Shout Out to these three fantastic Hawk Heroes who were recognized by staff for truly soaring above and beyond! These students demonstrated outstanding leadership, kindness, and model behavior, and they consistently live out what it means to be a Hawk Hero. They show our core values every day — being honest, respectful, responsible, and ready to learn — and they set a wonderful example for their peers.

Way to go- Bailey (3), Antoine (3), Parker (4)

Hello Hyman Fine Families,

* The cold weather is upon us- please make sure your child is dressed appropriately (coats, hats, gloves etc.) for the weather. When weather allows, children will go out for recess and brain break.

* Please follow the school’s guidelines of when to keep your child home from school, as this will help to minimize the spread of illness.

School Guidelines are:

A temperature greater than or equal to 100.0

Your child must be fever free for 24 hours, without the use of fever reducing medication such as Motrin/ibuprofen or Tylenol/acetaminophen

Your child must be without vomiting for 24 hours.

If your child is placed on antibiotics s/he must complete 24 hours of dosing prior to returning to school.

* Health Screenings (Hearing & Vision) will begin in the Health Office next week and continue until completion. Please make sure your child has their glasses at school.

* If your child is prone to accidents, please keep a change of clothes in their backpacks. Donations of new boys’ and girls’ underwear are always appreciated.

Thank you!

Competency Determination Policy Update

Massachusetts requires all students to meet Competency Determination (CD) requirements in order to graduate from high school. In November 2024, Ballot Question 2 updated this requirement by removing MCAS as the sole way students demonstrate competency.

Because of this change, the Massachusetts Board of Elementary and Secondary Education updated its regulations and now requires school districts to explain how students will meet the new graduation requirements. The Attleboro School Committee approved an updated Competency Determination policy that outlines these expectations.

Families can review the approved policy using the link provided. Please contact your school if you have any questions.
