Principal Message

Dear Hyman Fine Families,

The excitement is buzzing through our halls as the holidays draw near. There’s a special energy in the air that comes from anticipation, reflection, and joy. At the same time, I feel an overwhelming sense of gratitude for the strong community that surrounds our school. The support, care, and partnership of our staff, students, and families make this place truly special, and I’m thankful every day to be part of it.

📌 Below are a few reminders as we head into the final full week of school before Holiday Break.

📄 Report Cards:

Thank you to those who have already logged in to ASPEN to review your child's report card. It is an important step to check in on their progress.  Report cards are only available until December 24th.

🎉 Upcoming Spirit Days:

December 19 – Winter Pajama Day ❄️🛌
(Wear holiday, winter, or festive pajamas to school)

December 22 – Deck the Halls Theme Day 🎄
(See the flyer below for more details)

December 23 – Holiday Sparkle Day ✨
(Wear holiday lights, sparkle, or glitter!)

🤖 AI Survey:

The District AI Task Force is launching a short survey to learn how families are using artificial intelligence, what questions you may have, and what supports would be most helpful. Your feedback will help the district create clear expectations, build shared understanding, and ensure our approach to AI is safe, responsible, and aligned with community needs.

📝Please take a few minutes to complete the Family AI Survey at the link below. Thank you for contributing your voice.

🎄 Holiday Break:

There is No School December 24-January 2. School will resume on Monday, January 5th.

Warmest regards,

Suzy Dalessio, Principal

🌟🎄4th Grade Holiday Show

On Thursday, December 18th we invite the families of our Fourth-Grade students to join us for their Holiday Musical Performance at our HFES Auditorium at 6:30pm.

❄️☃️ Cold Weather Reminder

We go outside every day that the “feels-like” temperature is above 25 degrees, so please be sure to send your student with warm winter coats, hats, gloves or mittens, and appropriate footwear each day. Layering helps in keeping our students comfortable throughout the day!

If your family needs help finding winter gear, just reach out. No one should be cold on our watch!

📅✅Attendance Matters

A reminder to all families: Every school day matters for student success. While we recognize the value of family time, cultural experiences, and enrichment activities, families are reminded to consider the impact of missed class time. Vacation/extracurricular absences are unexcused and represent learning time that cannot be recovered.

If you have questions about attendance or need support, please reach out. We appreciate your partnership in your child's education.

🏫🤝 School Council

Thank you to the families and staff who have committed to being a part of this year's school council. Our first meeting was very productive. If you have any interest in joining the team, please reach out to me via email sdalessio@attleboroschools.com. We are looking for additional family members as well as members of our school community!

Our next meeting is December 16th at 5pm.

Hello Hyman Fine Families,

* The cold weather is upon us- please make sure your child is dressed appropriately (coats, hats, gloves etc.) for the weather. When weather allows, children will go out for recess and brain break.

* Please follow the school’s guidelines of when to keep your child home from school, as this will help to minimize the spread of illness.

School Guidelines are:

A temperature greater than or equal to 100.0

Your child must be fever free for 24 hours, without the use of fever reducing medication such as Motrin/ibuprofen or Tylenol/acetaminophen

Your child must be without vomiting for 24 hours.

If your child is placed on antibiotics s/he must complete 24 hours of dosing prior to returning to school.

* Health Screenings (Hearing & Vision) will begin in the Health Office next week and continue until completion. Please make sure your child has their glasses at school.

* If your child is prone to accidents, please keep a change of clothes in their backpacks. Donations of new boys’ and girls’ underwear are always appreciated.

Thank you!
