Dear Hyman Fine Families,
This week was another wonderful week here at Hyman Fine! Today, we came together for our monthly Hawk Hero Assembly, a special time to celebrate the many positive moments, acts of kindness, and accomplishments happening throughout our school. It’s always inspiring to see our students recognized for the great things they are doing each day. Ask your students about today's ROCK, PAPER, SCISSOR, TEACHER CHALLENGE and check out our Facebook page for fun details and to find out who won!
I’d also like to remind everyone that our annual food drive is still underway. Your generosity makes a meaningful difference for families in our community, and we appreciate all who have donated so far. Collections will continue through the end of the month.
Looking ahead, next week is our only full week of teaching and learning in November before we transition into the Thanksgiving break. We’re excited to make the most of this time together in classrooms. Remember there will be NO SCHOOL- November 26-28.
Finally, I encourage you to take a moment to read through our Kindness Spotlights below. These highlights are especially meaningful as we recognized National Kindness Day this week on Thursday, November 13. Our students continue to show us that kindness truly shines here at Hyman Fine.
Thank you for your continued support, and I wish you all a wonderful weekend.
Warmly, Mrs. Dalessio Principal

Kindness Staff Spotlight: Congratulations Mrs. Pierce & Ms. Lallier! |

|
We are proud to announce that Ms. Lallier (Grade 2 teacher) & Mrs. Peirce (Grade 4 teacher) were selected as recipients of the Love for Liv Kind Teacher Award! They, along with three other recipients in our school district, were chosen from a group of 78 nominations.
These two wonderful HFES educators were recognized by the Olivia Knighton Foundation for their exceptional kindness, dedication, and unwavering commitment to students.
Mr. and Mrs. Knighton visited Hyman Fine on Thursday morning to surprise our teachers and their students with a special recognition and donation to honor their remarkable contributions to our school. We are deeply grateful for all they do to make Hyman Fine a caring and inspiring place to learn.
Congratulations Ms. Lallier and Mrs. Peirce. Hyman Fine is lucky to have such dedicated and caring staff.

Kindness Student Spotlight: Readers and Kindness Leaders! |
|
|
This year, we are thrilled to introduce a new book club to our school community—an initiative created by two of our wonderful staff members, Mrs. Pierce and Miss. Cerrone. What began as a small vision rooted in a mission of kindness has quickly grown into a joyful experience that reaches far beyond the students who participate. It has become a source of inspiration for our entire Hyman Fine community.
Each Monday morning, this dedicated group of fourth graders, along with their club leaders Mrs. Pierce and Miss. Cerrone, gathers to enjoy a good book with a positive message and to engage in meaningful weekly kindness projects. One of their most uplifting contributions has been serving as our Monday Motivational Greeters, welcoming teachers and students with encouraging messages, warm smiles, and enthusiastic cheers to start the week on a positive note.
In honor of World Kindness Day this week, the club delivered over 400 kindness cards to students, each filled with thoughtful words of affirmation. Their efforts have brought joy, connection, and encouragement throughout the school.
We are excited to see how this new project continues to grow and inspire kindness across our community in the months ahead.

Positive Principal Shout Out |
Congratulations to our Kindergarten friend Everly. Everly received a Positive Principal Shout Out for showing great listening skills, following directions, and being a kind and respectful friend. Not only was it a pleasure to call home with her and share excitement with her family about the big news- but when I visited her in her classroom later that afternoon, she came up to me and said "Mrs. Dalessio, I am feeling so proud of myself!" and I couldn't agree more Everly! Way to go! |
We are collecting Non-Perishable items for our Food Drive this month. Please bring in canned goods, pasta and cereal to school throughout the month of November. |
|
|
What job or special skill could you share with our students? We would love to begin organizing opportunities for special guests to come and share their skills and talents with our students. If you have a job or special skill that you could showcase, we would love to hear about it and coordinate learning opportunities with our school community.
Click the flyer below to fill out the form if you are interested in sharing your skills with our students.

Massachusetts State Seal of Biliteracy |
Dear Families,
We are pleased to inform you of Attleboro High School’s participation in the Massachusetts State Seal of Biliteracy for the 2025-26 School Year. The Seal of Biliteracy is offered to any student who demonstrates proficiency in English and any other language, whether they speak or sign the language other than English at home or learned it at school or in the community. The State Seal of Biliteracy aims to:
Encourage students to study and master languages;
Certify attainment of biliteracy skills;
Recognize the value of language diversity;
Provide employers with a method of identifying people with language and biliteracy skills;
Provide universities with a method to recognize and give credit to applicants for attainment of high-level skills in languages;
Prepare students with skills that will benefit them in the labor market and the global society; and
Strengthen intergroup communication and honor the multiple cultures and languages in a community.
In order to earn the Massachusetts State Seal of Biliteracy, students must:
Demonstrate a high level of proficiency in English by earning a minimum qualifying score on the Grade 10 ELA MCAS,
Demonstrate a high level of proficiency in a world language by attaining a minimum score equivalent to Intermediate-High on an assessment approved by the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education, and
Satisfy all other graduation requirements.
The Seal of Biliteracy with Distinction is available to students who:
Earn a score of 501 or higher on the Grade 10 ELA MCAS
Demonstrate a proficiency level of Advanced Low or higher on a Department-approved assessment, and
Satisfy all other graduation requirements.
We will be administering the high school ELA MCAS throughout the year including in November and March. We will also administer AAPPL (ACTFL Assessment of Performance toward Proficiency in Languages) Measure at select times during the school year.
We look forward to honoring the language expertise and diversity in our district through this initiative. If you have any further questions, please contact Robin Frank at rfrank@attleboroschools.com.
Sincerely,
Robin Frank

Attleboro Public Library:
Community Read Passport
|
Be on the lookout for the Attleboro Public Library Community Read Passport coming home in your child’s backpack. Students can use these passports to collect stamps at the various community reading events held throughout the school year. Once the passports are filled, they can bring them to school or to the public library to receive special recognition at the summer reading kick-off in June. All events will be listed on the calendar at attleborolibrary.org. |

Schools are required to track and monitor attendance closely to ensure every child has the best opportunity to learn. When attendance patterns become concerning, we will notify families with a monthly letter. These letters are meant to provide early support and resources to help improve attendance before it becomes a bigger issue.
Please note- if you are taking a family vacation, even if you share your absence reason as such, vacations are not excused absences. However, your early communication allows us to properly record your reason for absence. Please let me know if you have additional questions.
Together, we can help every student succeed by making sure they are at school—on time, every day, ready to learn!
