Principal Message

Happy November everyone!

Can you believe it? November already? Time is passing pretty quickly this year. Speaking of time, don't forget to set you clocks back for daylight savings time on Sunday. I can appreciate the extra hour of sleep, but it always saddens me, how dark it gets so early in the evenings at this time of year.

Attached in this week's newsletter is the November calendar. Please remember that there are many important dates that affect our school schedule this month, particularly next week. There is NO SCHOOL on Tuesday, November 5 or Monday, November 11.

This upcoming week is also Parent Conferences. Please be sure to reach out to your child's classroom teacher if you are still interested in scheduling an appointment to meet. Conferences will take place on Wednesday, November 6 and Thursday, November 7.

November 7 is also an early release day. Students will be dismissed at 12:25 and lunch will not be served.

Don't forget, the PTO is also partnering with Jersey Mike's for our next fundraiser this week. On November 7 and November 8, 10% of your order sales will go toward our school PTO. Be sure to use the flyer below and mention our school when you are ordering. Take a look at the fundraising details in the PTO section below.

Enjoy this week's update and all that we can look forward to this month!

Have a wonderful weekend everyone!

A Note from Attleboro High School Regarding Student Attendance at High School Events

Attleboro Families:

Attleboro High School greatly appreciates the support of families at all AHS sporting events.  Recently, a large number of middle school and some elementary students have attended AHS athletic events (football/volleyball) games without parental supervision.  While the majority of students are there to watch the games and enjoy the event, a number of students have been left/dropped off unsupervised. This has created safety concerns and disruptions for other fans in attendance.

Moving forward, ALL middle school aged students and younger MUST be accompanied by an adult at all high school events.  We appreciate your support keeping all in attendance supervised while allowing an enjoyable environment for all.

Please know this expectation is currently in place for AHS events moving forward.

We look forward to seeing you all soon.

Thank you.

Kate Campbell- AHS Principal

Mark Houle - AHS Athletic Director

A Note from the Attleboro Public Library:

This week your student should have received a READ PASSPORT from Attleboro Public Library. Students can use these passports to collect stamps at the various community reading events held throughout the school year. Once the passports are filled, they can bring them to school or to the public library to receive special recognition at the summer reading kick-off in June.  All events will be listed on the calendar at attleborolibrary.org. The first event is on Monday, Oct 28 @6:30 pm.

Nurse Note

Hello Hyman Fine Families,

With the beautifully colored leaves and cool air come the germs that spread cold/flu/viruses. To combat illnesses, frequent hand washing, keeping hands away from the eyes, nose, and mouth, and receiving vaccines will help. Ways to boost your immune system to help fight off illness are healthy eating, regular exercise, proper sleep, and lowering stress.

Please follow the districts’ guidelines below about when to keep your child home from school, as this will help to minimize the spread of illness.

• A fever of 100.0 Fahrenheit – your child can return to school after they have been fever free for 24 hours without the use of medication to treat or prevent fever.

• Diarrhea – your child can return to school after 24 hours without any episodes of diarrhea.

• Vomiting – your child can return to school after 24 hours from the last episode of vomiting.

• Excessive coughing or wheezing.

 • Illness that requires treatment with an antibiotic – your child should remain home until they have completed 24 hours on prescribed medication. (Examples include but not limited to- strep, impetigo, conjunctivitis)

Additional note:  Please pack a change of clothes in your child's backpack for any unforeseen circumstances.
