Principal Message

Happy Friday everyone!

Today our bus riders participated in their bus evacuation drill. All went successfully and students did another fantastic job with their evacuation practice.

Next Thursday, October 31, we will be having a Hyman Fine Spirit Day. Students are welcome to dress up in a school appropriate costume, wear fall themed colors, or wear Hyman Fine gear. Please remember that if wearing a costume to school no masks, props, or gore are allowed.

Please be sure to check our Nurses area of the newsletter for a recent update from Nurse Mages.

Just a reminder that Parent/Teacher Conferences will be taking place in November. You should have received an email earlier this week with our Signup links. If you are interested in meeting with your child's teacher regarding his or her progress and transition into the school year, please be sure to sign up for a time using the link for their classroom.

Wishing you a wonderful weekend!

Title 1 Updates and Details

Title I small group interventions in schools are designed to provide individualized support to students. These interventions group students based on their specific needs and skill levels, allowing educators to focus on targeted instruction. The flexibility of this model means that students can move in and out of groups throughout the year, depending on their progress and changing requirements. This adaptive approach helps ensure that each child receives the attention they need to succeed. By fostering a supportive and responsive learning environment, small group interventions help empower all students to reach their full potential.

Families whose students may be a part of these specific interventions will be receiving phone calls to inform them of this service. If you have additional questions about Title 1, please reach out to Mrs. Dalessio at sdalessio@attleboroschools.com

Here are additional details about Title One:

A Note from Attleboro High School Regarding Student Attendance at High School Events

Attleboro Families:

Attleboro High School greatly appreciates the support of families at all AHS sporting events.  Recently, a large number of middle school and some elementary students have attended AHS athletic events (football/volleyball) games without parental supervision.  While the majority of students are there to watch the games and enjoy the event, a number of students have been left/dropped off unsupervised. This has created safety concerns and disruptions for other fans in attendance.

Moving forward, ALL middle school aged students and younger MUST be accompanied by an adult at all high school events.  We appreciate your support keeping all in attendance supervised while allowing an enjoyable environment for all.

Please know this expectation is currently in place for AHS events moving forward.

We look forward to seeing you all soon.

Thank you.

A Note from the Attleboro Public Library:

This week your student should have received a READ PASSPORT from Attleboro Public Library. Students can use these passports to collect stamps at the various community reading events held throughout the school year. Once the passports are filled, they can bring them to school or to the public library to receive special recognition at the summer reading kick-off in June.  All events will be listed on the calendar at attleborolibrary.org. The first event is on Monday, Oct 28 @6:30 pm.

Hyman Fine Reference Guide

We have created the A- Z Reference Guide which includes building protocols and procedures for families to note. Please read over this document as it includes pertinent information regarding our building expectations.

Nurse Note

Hello Hyman Fine Families,

With the beautifully colored leaves and cool air come the germs that spread cold/flu/viruses. To combat illnesses, frequent hand washing, keeping hands away from the eyes, nose, and mouth, and receiving vaccines will help. Ways to boost your immune system to help fight off illness are healthy eating, regular exercise, proper sleep, and lowering stress.

Please follow the districts’ guidelines below about when to keep your child home from school, as this will help to minimize the spread of illness.

• A fever of 100.0 Fahrenheit – your child can return to school after they have been fever free for 24 hours without the use of medication to treat or prevent fever.

• Diarrhea – your child can return to school after 24 hours without any episodes of diarrhea.

• Vomiting – your child can return to school after 24 hours from the last episode of vomiting.

• Excessive coughing or wheezing.

 • Illness that requires treatment with an antibiotic – your child should remain home until they have completed 24 hours on prescribed medication. (Examples include but not limited to- strep, impetigo, conjunctivitis)

Additional note:  Please pack a change of clothes in your child's backpack for any unforeseen circumstances.
