Message From the Principal

Good evening Fine Families-

It was another great week of teaching and learning here at Hyman Fine. This week we had a special guest author visit our second-grade students, former NFL Super Bowl champion and children's author, Malcom Mitchell. We celebrated his visit with a New England Patriots Spirit Day. In addition to his visit, two of our students were recognized as Rock Star Readers at a Celebration of Reading Event on Wednesday night. Congratulations to Wes and Parker who were selected from Hyman Fine! This was such a great experience, and we hope to continue this partnership for years to come. Please enjoy some photos below.

Grade 4 Families: MCAS Score Reports are going home in backpacks today, Friday, October 24th.

Next week is the last week of October- Can you even believe it? On Friday, October 31 we welcome our students to join us for a FALL SPIRIT DAY. If your child chooses, they can wear fall festive colors, Hyman Fine Gear, or dress in costume. More details have been provided below.

Looking ahead, November is filled with schedule changes to remember- there is NO SCHOOL on Tuesday, November 4th and again on Tuesday, November 11th. Please plan accordingly. Remember that conferences are taking place the first week of November. More details have been shared below.

I hope you enjoy the weekend!

Fall Spirit Day- Oct 31

We welcome students to wear costumes on our Fall Spirit Day, Friday, October 31. Please remember that costumes need to be put on at home and need to be easy to walk in and sit in, to participate in regular expectations of the day. No gore, masks or props should be brought in to school (please keep items like wands, swards, brooms etc. at home).

If you would prefer- we also welcome wearing Hyman Fine Gear or Fall Colors if you choose to participate in a different way!

As a reminder- spirit days are not required, and students are not expected to participate, but we welcome anyone who'd like to join the fun!

Fall Conferences

Don't forget! Fall Family–Teacher Conferences are just around the corner!

November 5th from 5:30pm-7:30pm

November 6th from 1:00pm-3:30pm and 4:14pm- 6:15pm (Please remember that November 6th is a half day and students will be dismissed at 12:25pm.

Please remember to sign up for a conference with your child's teacher by visiting our Hyman Fine Conference Portal. Conferences are a wonderful opportunity for families and teachers to connect, celebrate student successes, and discuss goals for the months ahead.

We kindly ask families to arrive on time, as conference times are brief and teachers have many families to meet with. If you have multiple conferences, please consider leaving a little time between appointments to travel between classrooms. Your cooperation helps us ensure that all families have the opportunity for meaningful conversations.

If your family is in need of translation services to support your conference, please reach out to your child’s classroom teacher so that we can do our best to make the necessary arrangements.

Picture Retake Day

If your child missed their picture retake day, or you were unsatisfied with your child's first photograph, please know that Lifetouch will be back for Picture Retakes on Wednesday, November 12.

Attleboro Public Library:

Community Read Passport

Be on the lookout for the Attleboro Public Library Community Read Passport coming home in your child’s backpack. Students can use these passports to collect stamps at the various community reading events held throughout the school year. Once the passports are filled, they can bring them to school or to the public library to receive special recognition at the summer reading kick-off in June.  All events will be listed on the calendar at attleborolibrary.org.

Attendance Matters

Schools are required to track and monitor attendance closely to ensure every child has the best opportunity to learn. When attendance patterns become concerning, we will notify families with a monthly letter. These letters are meant to provide early support and resources to help improve attendance before it becomes a bigger issue.

Please note- if you are taking a family vacation, even if you share your absence reason as such, vacations are not excused absences. However, your early communication allows us to properly record your reason for absence. Please let me know if you have additional questions.

Together, we can help every student succeed by making sure they are at school—on time, every day, ready to learn!

School Council

Thank you to the families and staff who have committed to being a part of this year's school council. Our first meeting was very productive. If you have any interest in joining the team, please reach out to me via email sdalessio@attleboroschools.com.
