Dear Fine Families,
Welcome back and Happy New Year! We are so excited to have our students back in the building after winter break. The halls are once again filled with smiles, stories, and the wonderful energy that only kids can bring.
Our students have done a fantastic job easing back into routines, expectations, and learning. It’s clear they came back rested, recharged, and ready to jump right back in. We are so proud of how smoothly everyone is acclimating as we settle into the second half of the year together.
As we look ahead, you’ll find our January calendar included below for your reference. There are lots of great things coming up, so be sure to take a peek and mark those calendars! Just a reminder that next Friday, January 16th is an early release day. Students will be dismissed at 12:25 and no lunch will be served.
Thank you, as always, for your continued partnership and support. We are looking forward to an amazing year ahead filled with growth, learning, and fun.
Warm regards,
Suzy Dalessio, Principal

❄️☃️ Cold Weather Reminder |
We go outside every day that the “feels-like” temperature is above 25 degrees, so please be sure to send your student with warm winter coats, hats, gloves or mittens, and appropriate footwear each day. Layering helps in keeping our students comfortable throughout the day!
If your family needs help finding winter gear, just reach out. No one should be cold on our watch!

A reminder to all families: Every school day matters for student success. While we recognize the value of family time, cultural experiences, and enrichment activities, families are reminded to consider the impact of missed class time. Vacation/extracurricular absences are unexcused and represent learning time that cannot be recovered.
If you have questions about attendance or need support, please reach out. We appreciate your partnership in your child's education.

We've already kicked off the new year with some incredible celebrations! These SIX students were recognized this week for their continued demonstration of Hawk Hero behaviors.
They are true demonstrations of Honest, Respectful, Responsible and Ready to Learn.
Teachers in our buildings had messages of kindness, perseverance, and so much more recognizing our student commitment to making good choices, caring for themselves, their peers and their classroom community.
We are truly lucky to be a school that celebrates the hard work our students demonstrate each and every day!
Way to go Hawk Heroes:
Juan Dario (2), Aria (2), Abidah (2), Colton (2), James (2) and Reed (4). Keep up the great work!

Hello Hyman Fine Families,
* The cold weather is upon us- please make sure your child is dressed appropriately (coats, hats, gloves etc.) for the weather. When weather allows, children will go out for recess and brain break.
* Please follow the school’s guidelines of when to keep your child home from school, as this will help to minimize the spread of illness.
School Guidelines are:
A temperature greater than or equal to 100.0
Your child must be fever free for 24 hours, without the use of fever reducing medication such as Motrin/ibuprofen or Tylenol/acetaminophen
Your child must be without vomiting for 24 hours.
If your child is placed on antibiotics s/he must complete 24 hours of dosing prior to returning to school.
* Health Screenings (Hearing & Vision) will begin in the Health Office next week and continue until completion. Please make sure your child has their glasses at school.
* If your child is prone to accidents, please keep a change of clothes in their backpacks. Donations of new boys’ and girls’ underwear are always appreciated.
Thank you!

Competency Determination Policy Update |
Massachusetts requires all students to meet Competency Determination (CD) requirements in order to graduate from high school. In November 2024, Ballot Question 2 updated this requirement by removing MCAS as the sole way students demonstrate competency.
Because of this change, the Massachusetts Board of Elementary and Secondary Education updated its regulations and now requires school districts to explain how students will meet the new graduation requirements. The Attleboro School Committee approved an updated Competency Determination policy that outlines these expectations.
Families can review the approved policy using the link provided. Please contact your school if you have any questions.
