Principal's Message

happy new year

Dear Families,

Happy New Year! I hope you had a restful and joyful holiday season, filled with moments of peace and connection. As we return from the winter break, I am filled with excitement and anticipation for the months ahead.

The start of a new year offers us an opportunity to reflect, recharge, and renew our commitment to supporting our students’ growth and success. We have so many exciting learning opportunities ahead, and I look forward to partnering with you to make this a wonderful and enriching year for all. Wishing you and your family a bright, healthy, and prosperous 2025!

We had a quick and smooth transition back to school and the next six weeks will be filled with more learning accompanied by our mid-year data collection window. This will be a time where teachers will check in on your student's current academic progress from the beginning of the year to help support and make any adjustments to teaching and learning and to ensure your students continue on the right track to making even more academic progress this year. I enjoy this time of year when our teachers and instructional leaders come together to discuss and celebrate the tremendous growth and progress that our students have made.

Warmly,
Suzy Dalessio, Principal

Hawk Hero Assembly Highlights

This month Student Council is asking our Feinstein Scholars to collect donations for a local Animal Shelter. A flyer will be going home in student backpacks containing information on particular items the shelter is looking for. Donations are greatly appreciated. Our sprit day this month will be January 10th and students are welcome to dress like their favorite animal to go along with this month's collection drive!

WE DID IT AGAIN! Our students reached their next incentive goal for the month and on January 10th, not only can they dress like an animal, but they can bring a favorite stuffed animal to school with them!

During Friday's assembly, kindergarten students shared their melted snowman writing, explaining how their cold and chilly snowman stayed a little too warm. We laughed and cheered for their creative ideas!

Lastly, a special thanks to everyone's generosity and kindness during our Holiday Food Drive. Because of our charitable act to our community and our efforts to show and spread kindness in our school, The Feinstein Foundation has awarded our school with a monetary donation to be used towards school needs.

I SOAR, I SHINE... I'M A HALK HERO AT HYMAN FINE!

We are excited to celebrate a few more friends who were recognized for their hard work and commitment to making positive choices and following our core values. There was lots to be said about Vivian's (K) model behaviors, helpful attitude, and perseverance when learning new things. Josue (K) has continued to put forth his best efforts into his work and is an attentive learner. WAY TO GO HAWK HEROES!

Attendance Matters

Your student's attendance is very important. The more time spent in school learning, the more academic progress and success students can make. Not to mention, it's fun to be with friends, learning, growing and playing together. Building good habits and routines for coming to school will help create a solid foundation for your students educational journey.

It is important to note that students are deemed Chronically Absent by the state when they reach 18 days out of school in a year. This includes both excused and unexcused days as it tallies the total number of days a student is out of school. It is still important to communicate reasons for absences, so please continue submitting doctors' notes when applicable. Communication from families helps us have a better understanding of absences and allows us to better support students and families. We will continue to communicate with families any updates regarding our attendance records and we appreciate your continued support.

High School Events

Attleboro Families:

Attleboro High School greatly appreciates the support of families at all AHS sporting events.   While most students are there to watch the games and enjoy the event, a number of students have been left/dropped off unsupervised. This has created safety concerns and disruptions for other fans in attendance and game management staff.

Moving forward, ALL middle school aged students and younger MUST be accompanied by an adult at all high school events.  We appreciate your support keeping all in attendance supervised while allowing an enjoyable environment for all.

Please know this expectation is currently in place for AHS events moving forward.

We look forward to seeing you all soon and thank you for supporting AHS!

Thank you.

Recess Ready

As we have mentioned before, it is important to ensure that your students are ready for recess each day. It is helpful to dress in layers and ensure that they have a warm coat as the colder days and winter months approach us. We will have outdoor recess as long as it is not raining and as long as the "feels like" or windchill is at least 25 degrees Fahrenheit.
