Principal Message

Happy Friday everyone!

Can you believe that we are just a few sleeps away from our first day of school? We are excited to welcome all of our students in grades 1-4 on Tuesday, September 3rd. Kindergarten students will join us on Wednesday, September 11th. We can't wait to be together again soon!

Please note that many of last week's information has remained in this week's newsletter as some new families could be joining our mailing list. I want to ensure everyone has access to all of the important back to school information.

We encourage all of our families to fill out our Transportation Survey, to help us better prepare for your child's daily dismissal plan. Please fill this out as soon as possible.

It was a pleasure meeting so many of our families who were able to attend our Hawk Kickoff on Wednesday, August 28th! It was so nice to make connections with all the students before the year begins! The feedback was great, and we hope this was a positive experience for everyone! If you couldn't make the event, we will be hosting a Back to School Night later in September.

I am looking forward to the year ahead and am excited to be a part of the Hyman Fine Community.

Weekly News Flash and other HFES Communications!

Strong communication between home and school plays a key role in your child’s success. By staying connected, we can collaborate to support your child's education, address any issues quickly, and celebrate their achievements together. Here at HFES there are a few ways in which you can expect to receive communications about what is happening in our building and in your child’s classroom.

Student Home/School Folders- All students will receive a folder. Please check this folder regularly for information such as flyers, permission slips or notices.

News Flash: This newsletter will be sent to families via email every Friday, with updates and upcoming information. The newsletter will also be posted on our social media and website.

APS Mobile App/Rooms: Please ensure that you have downloaded the APS mobile application. This app features our Rooms platform which allows teachers and parents to communicate via a messaging system. Learn more about this platform by visiting our district ROOMS SUPPORT PAGE.

Facebook: Join our Facebook Page to see and hear about all the fun things going on in our building. We frequently post reminders on this page and often showcase photos from events and activities taking place here at our school.

You can also call the main office, and we would be happy to assist you or direct your questions to the appropriate staff.

Information Packets

Information packets will go home the first week of school in student's home/school folder. Please ensure that you check your student's backpacks, complete the forms and return them to school as soon as possible.

🚨Students Photo Release

Please note a change to the student information form, regarding photo publications. If checking "Do Not Publish" please make sure you read the explanation underneath which clarifies that by checking the Do Not Publish box, you are identifying that you do not wish to have your child's image, name, work, etc. published anywhere, which includes our yearbook.

Aspen Login Details

Aspen is our student information system. It is important that all of the information in this system is accurate and up-to-date. Please ensure that you notify our secretary of any changes over the course of year including email addresses, phone numbers etc. This system is also used for communications and accessing student report cards.

We hope this tutorial, will help you navigate the Aspen platform.

Calendars

School event calendars and breakfast/lunch calendars will go home in student home/school connection folders at the start of every month. Please ensure that you check your student's backpack for flyers, forms and important school news regularly.

Hyman Fine Reference Guide

We have created the A- Z Reference Guide which includes building protocols and procedures for families to note. Please read over this document as it includes pertinent information regarding our building expectations.

Daily Attendance

Please remember that your child's attendance is important to their education. Frequent absenteeism can have a large effect on your student's learning and academic growth. If your child will be absent, please be sure to call our main office the morning of your child's absence. If you plan to dismiss your student from school, please send a handwritten note, or call our main office to ensure communication is received well in advance. Please avoid emailing teachers regarding a dismissal change as they are not always readily available to check their email in the middle of teaching.

time for school

School Hours

School hours are from 8:45 AM to 3:25 PM. Doors open for arrival at 8:30 AM each day. If your child arrives after 8:45, you will need to park and walk your child into the main office to sign in. Children arriving after 8:45 will be considered tardy.

On early release days, dismissal time will be 12:25 PM. No lunch will be provided on early release days.

Transportation To & From School

Car Riders, Park and Walk & Walkers

If you plan to pick up and drop off your student each day or you plan to walk to school, please read these specific details in our Arrival Dismissal Document.

Bus Lists & Details Are Posted

Most answers to questions about transportation including bus stops, the fee for service program, or routes can be found on the APS Transportation Home Page. Should you have a specific question that you cannot find the answer to, please contact the transportation office at 508-222-0012. A reminder that for the first 2 weeks of school, times may be off by 5-15 minutes as everyone adjusts to more traffic on the roads when school begins. Please be at your stop at least 10 minutes before the estimated time of pick up/drop off. Once two full weeks have gone by, you will have a more realistic, regular time that the bus or van arrives/drops off at the designated bus stop. Thank you for your patience at the beginning of the year.
