Hello Fine Families!

We hope everyone had a nice relaxing week. We are excited to welcome all of students and staff back tomorrow, Monday, February 24th.

This week, February 24-28, PTO will be hosting the Scholastic Book Fair. Remember to check the schedule in the PTO section for your shopping dates.

On Tuesday, February 25th we will have a special guest performance for our students by, Li Liu, a Chinese Acrobat. I have included more information regarding her performance below. This program is supported in part by a grant from the Attleboro Cultural Council, a local agency which is supported by the Mass Cultural Council, a state agency.

I would also like to remind everyone that Multicultural Night is Thursday, February 27th from 6:00-7:30pm! We are very excited to welcome our students and families in for such a fun and exciting event where we can learn about all of the diverse cultures and backgrounds that makeup our beautiful family!

TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 25th our students will enjoy a special performance by Li Liu!

The show is primarily geared toward elementary school audiences (grades K-6). Students get a hands-on shot at trying some of the easier (and safer!) skills such as ribbon dancing and basic plate spinning. They learn the historical significance of traditional lion and dragon dances and are encouraged to think about what it might have been like to grow up in a different time and place.

Grade 4 families should be receiving an email from your child's perspective Middle Schools regarding Band/Chorus/Music selections for the upcoming school year. Please be sure to check your emails.

It is very important that all of our families check our various forms of communication regularly. This includes your child's daily homework/communication folder, Rooms App, and our Weekly Newsflash Newsletter.

100% of our classroom teachers are currently using the APS Rooms App to communicate with their families. Please check for updates often. If you are unable to access this application, please reach out to Kim Janssen at Kjanssen@attleboroschools.com.

School event calendars and breakfast/lunch calendars will go home in student home/school connection folders at the start of every month. Please ensure that you check your student's backpack for flyers, forms and important school news regularly.

As we have mentioned before, it is important to ensure that your students are ready for recess each day. It is helpful to dress in layers and ensure that they have a warm coat as the colder days and winter months approach us. We will have outdoor recess as long as it is not raining and as long as the "feels like" or windchill is at least 25 degrees Fahrenheit.

We have created the A- Z Reference Guide which includes building protocols and procedures for families to note. Please read over this document as it includes pertinent information regarding our building expectations.

Your student's attendance is very important. The more time spent in school learning, the more academic progress and success students can make. Not to mention, it's fun to be with friends, learning, growing and playing together. Building good habits and routines for coming to school will help create a solid foundation for your students educational journey.

It is important to note that students are deemed Chronically Absent by the state when they reach 18 days out of school in a year. This includes both excused and unexcused days as it tallies the total number of days a student is out of school. It is still important to communicate reasons for absences, so please continue submitting doctors' notes when applicable. Communication from families helps us have a better understanding of absences and allows us to better support students and families. We will continue to communicate with families any updates regarding our attendance records and we appreciate your continued support.

The District does not carry accidental damage insurance. Students are responsible for any damage requiring repairs.

Hello Hyman Fine Families,

It is that time of year where we typically see an increase in illness, and we would like to take an opportunity to remind parent/guardians of the importance of having up-to-date contact information at the school for us to reach you in a time of need.  in addition, we are asking that you have additional emergency contacts that are available to pick up the child if needed. 

If the nurse calls for the student's dismissal, it is standard practice for the dismissal to occur within the hour.  Thank you in advance for your support so we can continue to provide the best care for all students.

Cold and flu season is upon us. In the graphic below you will find helpful tips and guidelines for addressing illness symptoms. When to send your child to school, keep them home, or even seek medical attention.

Additional note:  Please pack a change of clothes in your child's backpack for any unforeseen circumstance
