Principal's Message

Welcome back everyone and happy Friday!

We are only two weeks away from another holiday break, but our students and teachers are geared up for all of the fun and exciting learning ahead of us!

Today we had our monthly Hawk Hero assembly, and our students acceded their incentive goal for the month of November. As a reward, Flash had a very special surprise for all our students... If they happen to share that an 'Elf' visited their school today, they aren't kidding! Take a peek at some photos from today's special visit! It was definitely a fun filled day for everyone here at HFES!

For the month of December, we will focus on the Hawk Hero core value of Responsibility!

Don't forget! Tonight, PTO will be hosting their Holiday Bingo Night, at Hyman Fine from 6-7:30. A flyer has been posted below in the PTO section with more details. We hope you can join us for some hot chocolate and snacks!

Wishing everyone a wonderful weekend!

Recess Ready

As we have mentioned before, it is important to ensure that your students are ready for recess each day. It is helpful to dress in layers and ensure that they have a warm coat as the colder days and winter months approach us. We will have outdoor recess as long as it is not raining and as long as the "feels like" or windchill is at least 25 degrees Fahrenheit.

Positive Discipline
Nurse Note

Hello Hyman Fine Families,

* Screenings for Grade 2, 3, & 4 will be in the Health Office on 12/10/24 & 12/12/24. Please make sure your student has their glasses or hearing devices on those days.

With the beautifully colored leaves and cool air come the germs that spread cold/flu/viruses. To combat illnesses, frequent hand washing, keeping hands away from the eyes, nose, and mouth, and receiving vaccines will help. Ways to boost your immune system to help fight off illness are healthy eating, regular exercise, proper sleep, and lowering stress.

Please follow the districts’ guidelines below about when to keep your child home from school, as this will help to minimize the spread of illness.

• A fever of 100.0 Fahrenheit – your child can return to school after they have been fever free for 24 hours without the use of medication to treat or prevent fever.

• Diarrhea – your child can return to school after 24 hours without any episodes of diarrhea.

• Vomiting – your child can return to school after 24 hours from the last episode of vomiting.

• Excessive coughing or wheezing.

 • Illness that requires treatment with an antibiotic – your child should remain home until they have completed 24 hours on prescribed medication. (Examples include but not limited to- strep, impetigo, conjunctivitis)

Additional note:  Please pack a change of clothes in your child's backpack for any unforeseen circumstance
