Hello Fine Families,
We are two weeks from summer vacation but still so much more fun to be had and learning to wrap up with!
This year we started a One Book, One School Tradition. This new tradition, that we hope to continue will help our teachers begin to grow a library of literature that will focus on character education. The hope is to provide our teachers and our students with even more opportunities to learn about important values such as friendship, care, empathy, responsibility and more. The idea of uniting our school through one piece of literature also builds community. Teachers in every grade spent time reading this year's text "Enemy Pie" and this week, classes joined us as we transformed our teacher's lounge into a "Friendship Cafe" where students visited the cafe for an opportunity to mix ingredients or qualities that made a good friend. They dawned aprons and chef hats and mingled with friends. It was a fun experience for all and a tradition we hope to continue. Thank you to our PTO for purchasing our books and to the fantastic committee of staff that are always willing to take tiny ideas and make them come to life! We couldn't have done it without you. Here's to "Soaring Stories for Hawk Heroes" the name we've coined for this special tradition! - Friendship Cafe Photos
We hope you had a chance to see photos and video of our Staff Inflatable Race on our Facebook page. Staff and students had a BLAST on Monday laughing and cheering for their favorite inflatables. The event ended with Mrs. Scott and I getting SLIMED- these photos and videos are also up on our Facebook page for your enjoyment.
This week our fourth graders visited their prospective Middle Schools. We hope our students found their experiences exciting and helped to prepare them for their next transition. We are just a few days away from Fourth Grade Send Off. Fourth grade families will be receiving an email update with more information regarding their end of year events.
Lastly, we said Goodbye to our youngest crew! Kindergarteners ended their year with the cutest performance of Mother Goose Tales before heading home for summer. Thank you to Mrs. Bedrosian for yet another fantastic show. This crew holds a special place in my heart as they are my FIRST kindergarten class in the Role as Principal. I hope that our journey together continues to be filled with hugs and high fives, laughter and giggles, as well as learning and growth for us all!
Please note, the last week of school will be a SPIRIT WEEK! Make sure to check out the graphic further down in the newsletter!
Wishing you a wonderful weekend,
Suzy Dalessio, Principal
