Welcome Kindergarten Families! While we completed two very successful weeks of school for grades 1-4 yesterday, it has been a joy watching our Kindergarten students make the big adjustment to the big school. Certainly, while the size of the school will not shrink, we hope that our strong sense of community at Hill-Roberts will help the school feel small in a nurturing and connected way.
Please check out the: Tip of the Week, Lost and Found Photo, PTO updates, updated Food and Allergy Prevention Policies, and an updated Note from the Nurse. There are several repeated messages for all of our new families, in Kindergarten and grades 1-4.
Have a great weekend!
Sincerely,
Dr. Paul Madden, Principal
Ms. Julie O'Boyle, Assistant Principal

Happy End to the First 5-day week!
Children’s problems include adapting to a new classroom, bullying by classmates, or a big move to a new home but resilience is the ability to thrive despite these challenges.

Questions about bus stops, the fee for service program, or routes can be found here.
Please note that in the morning and afternoon, please allow for the bus to arrive 10 minutes earlier or 10 minutes later than the stated time. In the morning, students should arrive at least 10 minutes before their scheduled pick-up time. In the afternoon, families should arrive at least 10 minutes before their child's scheduled return time.
Note: If no adult is present in the afternoon to pick up your child, then they will be returned to HRES' ABACUS program (in our cafeteria) and a fee will be charged.
Procedures
Our goal is to make sure that arrival and dismissal is safe and efficient for all our students and families. If your student does not take the bus, please click on the link for a description of our Arrival and Dismissal Protocols. There is one major update, STUDENTS MUST IDENTIFY the person picking them up as either a known caregiver or a caregiver on file. Early on this will be clunky, but student safety is paramount. Thank you for your patience in advance!
2024-2025 Dismissal Plans Update
In order to keep up to date records of students' dismissal plans, please fill out this form as accurately as possible. Please fill out ONE FORM FOR EACH CHILD. Although it may seem redundant, doing so allows us to sort and find students easily and allows us to provide individual teachers with accurate information. Thank you! We know it is one more thing, but your child’s safety is yours and ours number one priority.
Communication is key in these areas. Please inform both your teacher and front office of any of these happenings.
Absences – please call the front office to report your child not coming to school. Also please note that for our absence to be excused you must provide a doctor’s note.
Early Dismissal – please send a note to school with your student and your teacher will send it to the front office.
Change in afternoon transportation – If your student is not going to ride the bus on one given day and is going to be a walker, please send a note so that both the Teacher and Staff know and can mark it accordingly. This also helps on half days if you are normally an ABACUS student and are not going that day.
Due to safety concerns relating to food allergies and various medical concerns, Attleboro Public Schools does not allow for the distribution or sale of homemade food items during the school day nor sharing of food among students.
During evening events, when parental guardians are present - store bought, baked goods are preferred given the guidance from the city health department. In the event that a homemade food item is provided, a list of ingredients must be posted and available in multiple languages. Parents will use their discretion as to whether it is safe for their child.
Similar to last year, breakfast and lunch is free for all students. Menus can be found here.
Breakfast:
For students who eat breakfast at school, we ask that you drop them off at 8:30AM. We try to get them back to class for the start of school at 8:45AM. This helps them start the day on time with all their classmates.
Snack:
Classrooms will remain nut safe during snack time. All snacks that will be eaten in the classroom must be nut free. A snack should be sent with your child every day. Please be mindful of the packaging difficulty of snacks. We encourage healthy eating for snacks.
Lunch:
Lunch is free for all students. For younger students, talk to them about which choice they want, so making the choice in the classroom is easier for them. If your child has any food related allergies, please be sure to directly contact our nurse, Mrs. Sherri Knight-Cloud, at sknightcloud@attleboroschools.com or call the school and ask to speak with her.
Dental Forms have been sent home with your student. All of the Attleboro Public Schools offer an in school dental service provided by CMOHS, Commonwealth Mobile Oral Health Services. The program is designed to provide dental services to students who do not have a dentist that they regularly see. If you want your student to be seen by the dentist, please fill out the form completely, including insurance information. There is no fee to participate in the dental program. The dentist will be coming to Hill Roberts on Tuesday, November12th. Please contact me with any questions.
