Attleboro High School’s participation in the Massachusetts State Seal of Biliteracy for the 2024-2025 School Year

High school is quite a few years away for our K-4 students, but we are still pleased to inform you of Attleboro High School’s participation in the Massachusetts State Seal of Biliteracy for the 2024-2025 School Year. The Seal of Biliteracy is offered to any student who demonstrates proficiency in English and any other language, whether they speak or sign the language other than English at home or learned it at school or in the community. More information here.

Starting Monday - Students Not Registered for the Bus will Not be able to Ride the Bus Home

As of September 30, 2024, students that have not completed a Transportation Application will not be allowed to ride the bus. If a student is at a bus stop in the morning, they will be brought in to school but will not be able to take the bus home if they are not registered. There is no waitlist so any new applications will have a 72-hour turnaround for the bus to be assigned. Families can learn more and apply on the APS Transportation webpage.

Reminders - Dismissal and ABACUS Fee for Returned Students:

Reminder - Avoid Dismissal After 3pm - Please avoid dismissing your students after 3pm. Sometimes this is unavoidable, but for the goal of having an efficient and safe dismissal process for all, we need to be able to focus on preparing to dismiss 400 plus K-4 students. Thank you for your ongoing understanding and support!

Reminder - ABACUS Fee for Returned Students - If no adult is present in the afternoon to pick up your child, then they will be returned to HRES' ABACUS program (in our cafeteria) and a fee will be charged. If you are unsure of your students scheduled drop off and pick up times, you can search them here.

Nurse Office Note

Vision and Hearing Screenings:  We are going to start performing our State Mandated Vision and Hearing screenings with Kindergarten Vision on Wednesday, October 2nd. The Lion’s Club will be assisting with their SPOT vision screener, which is used by many of our local pediatricians.  If your student wears glasses, please make sure they are wearing them.  If your student does not pass the Vision screening, you will receive a letter home by Friday October 10/4.

As the school year moves on, I will be performing Vision screenings on all students in 1-4 and Hearing on grades K-3.  Height and weight are done on grades 1 & 4 only.  I will inform you via the Husky Howler when those will start.

If you do not want your child to participate in the mandated  screenings, you may Opt out by stating so in writing, please send that to me, your school nurse.

Do not hesitate to contact me with any questions regarding the screenings.
