Dear Hill-Roberts Families,

We hope this message finds you well!

We would like to begin by sharing how proud we are of our Grade 3 and Grade 4 students for their efforts during MCAS testing. Students approached this experience with focus, determination, and pride in their work. We are also incredibly grateful to our staff for creating a supportive and encouraging environment throughout the process.

While assessments are one part of our work, we remain deeply committed to recognizing and celebrating the whole child. This Friday, we will hold our next CREST Assembly, where we will honor our Golden Huskies who exemplify excellence in character, effort, and community. These recognitions reflect what we value most at HRES: growth, kindness, and a love of learning.

We are also excited to welcome new members to our community. On April 9, 2026, from 5:30–6:30 PM, we will host a “Welcome to HRES” event for redistricted families. We look forward to meeting and supporting our newest Huskies!

A special congratulations to our Kindergarten students and families! Thank you for your incredible support during Hunter’s Pot O’ Gold Fundraiser. The Kindergarten team raised the most money, and we are excited to celebrate them with a Playground Pop Party in the sunshine this May after April break—extra recess is always extra special!

Upcoming Events:
• April 15 – PTO FUNdraising at LAUNCH
• April 16 (K only) – Kindergarten Literacy Night, 6:00–7:00 PM
• April 30 – Book Fair & Art Show, 6:00–8:00 PM
• May 14 (Grade 4 only) – Spring Concert, 6:30–7:15 PM (doors open at 6:00 PM)
• Coming soon – June Field Day dates

As always, thank you for your continued partnership and support. It makes a tremendous difference in the success and well-being of our students.

Wishing all who celebrate a joyful Easter and Passover. We hope you enjoy time with family and loved ones.

Sincerely,

Dr. Paul Madden

Optional - HRES Class Placement Information

First Posted: March 29, 2026

Dear Hill-Roberts Families,

As we continue this school year, we’re also planning for next year—especially class placements. This process is complex, and we take great care to create balanced classrooms where every child can thrive.

When forming class lists, we consider many factors, including academic, social, and behavioral needs, student relationships, special services (e.g., Special Education, MLL, Title 1), learning styles, and gender balance. While we cannot honor specific teacher requests, rest assured that every Hill-Roberts teacher is committed to your child’s success.

If you have important information to share about your child’s placement (current grades K-3 only), please complete the HRES Student Placement Family Input Form for 26-27 by Thursday, April 30, 2026. This form is optional, and late submissions may not be considered.

Thank you for your partnership in helping us create a great learning environment for all students!

Dr. Paul Madden, Principal

Ms. Julie O’Boyle, Assistant Principal

Pick Up and Drop Off - Updates

Morning Drop Off

Please use the drop off loop in the AM. Students should never be crossing the street unsupervised.

To support greater efficiency for all, please make sure your student is ready to exit the car upon pulling up to the front end of the car line.

As a reminder, please be polite in all interactions with staff; safety is our priority.

Afternoon Pick Up

As restrictions have been lifted, we appreciate your continued support in keeping our school community safe. Please follow these important safety guidelines during drop-off:

--Park in a manner that allows cars and buses to pass safely in both directions.

--Avoid parking on the corner nearest the front of the school where buses exit.

--Always accompany your child when crossing the street and use designated crosswalks.

Thank you for helping us ensure a safe and smooth arrival for all students!

Bus Stop Reminders - Wait Outside at Bus Stop +/- 10 minutes from official stop time

Please be outside at your bus stop before the bus arrives. This is bus company policy. Waiting outside at the bus stop ensures that students are waiting safely before the bus arrives (and not crossing the street last minute) and helps ensure that bus routes are on-time.

Building Safety - Do not Pass the Door to Others

Just a reminder that when you are being buzzed into the main office, please do not hold the door for additional families/guests. Our front office needs to vet all potential visitors. Please remind anyone following behind you that they need to press the buzzer and wait for the main office to answer before entering.

2025 HRES School Report Card

2/6/2026

Dear Families:

Every year, each public school and school district in Massachusetts receives a report card. Just as your child’s report card shows how they are doing in different subjects, the school’s report card is designed to show families how our school is doing in different areas. A link to our school’s report card is available at https://reportcards.doe.mass.edu/2025/00160045.

The report card includes multiple measures of a school’s performance – more than just MCAS scores. It represents a new way of looking at school performance, by providing information on student achievement, teacher qualifications, student learning opportunities, and more.

Report cards are designed to be useful tools for everyone connected to our school. Families can use the information to have meaningful conversations with us about what the school is doing well and where there is room for improvement. Community and education leaders can use the information to better understand how to support students and our school.

You will notice on our report card that our school’s accountability percentile has never been higher (46th percentile), as last year our school performed better than 45% of elementary and middle schools statewide. As this is based on a three year average, it does hide the fact that we were the highest performing elementary school in the district last year with an achievement mean percentile of 53%. Further, we were one of only 92 schools statewide to outperform our pre-pandemic achievement levels—marking the highest performance in our school’s history! To support this upward trend in student performance, we are continuing to focus on writing as our instructional focus and, more generally, literacy, as our key focus area. We encourage you to become involved in helping us improve our school. We see parents as critical partners in the success of our students and school, and we are grateful for your continued support.

Finally, as your child attends a school that receives federal Title I funds, you also have the right to request the following information about the qualifications of your child’s classroom teachers:

-Whether your child’s teacher is licensed in the grade levels and subject areas they teach,

-Whether your child’s teacher is teaching under an emergency license or waiver,

-The college degree and major of your child’s teacher, and

-Whether your child is provided services by paraprofessionals and, if so, their qualifications.

If you have questions about our school’s report card, would like to become involved in school improvement activities, or would like to request information about the qualifications of your child’s classroom teacher, please contact pmadden@attleboroschools.com To see our district’s report card or to search for other schools’ report cards, visit reportcards.doe.mass.edu.

Sincerely,

Dr. Paul Madden, Principal
