Dear Families,

This week we crossed the half-way mark for the school year! Lots to celebrate and lots to look forward to!

First, thanks to all of your support and our teachers' efforts, our students are experiencing accelerated academic growth. Since September, we have achieved a 43% increase in the number of K-1 students whose reading skills are on grade-level (DIBELS); an enviable improvement. In addition, in grades 2-4 we have seen an average reading level increase of one full grade level, in half a year's time - double the rate of expected growth (STAR Reader; math averaged a .9 grade level increase)!

In addition, we had a great Family Game night last night, we have Book Fair next week, Grade 2 Swim coming up, and some spirit week events before February break!

Please check out several important updates/reminders below, especially from our PTO. Have a great weekend!

Sincerely,

Dr. Paul Madden, Principal

Ms. Julie O'Boyle, Assistant Principal

Monday we hosted a Principal's Breakfast for our Golden Husky Awardees from our 1/24 CREST Assembly. This batch of Golden Huskies were specifically recognized for exemplifying Caring, which is the Captain of our CREST (Caring, Respect, Excellence, Safety, and Trust) values. Thank you to our PTO for sponsoring the Principal's breakfast! Congratulations to all of our Golden Huskies below!

Grade 3 and 4 Student Survey (Before February Break)

Each year, students in grades 3-12 participate in a survey as part of Attleboro's involvement in the Massachusetts Consortium for Innovative Education Assessment (MCIEA) which aims to help schools and the community measure school quality outside of simply relying on MCAS data. Our third and fourth grade students will be participating in this year's survey between now and February break. The survey takes approximately 15-30 minutes and is done during class. If you would like to see the results of previous surveys/questions, please visit the MCIEA School Quality Measures Dashboard.

Before 3pm for Dismissals, Please

Please avoid dismissing your students after 3pm. While sometimes this is unavoidable, we appreciate your cooperation in ensuring our attention is focused on safely and efficiently dismissing our 425 plus students. Thank you!

Reminder - APS Food Policy - Birthdays, Valentine's Day, and other Special Days

Just a reminder about the District's food policy: no food or candy items are allowed to be sent to be shared with classmates. However, pencils, stickers, and cards are all perfectly fine to send in if you choose! All food or candy items brought in will be returned home. Thank you for doing your part to protect students with, known and unknown, food allergens.

Reminder - Parent/Guardian Supervision Required at HS Sporting Events

Attleboro Families,

Attleboro High School greatly appreciates the support of families at all AHS sporting events.   While most students are there to watch the games and enjoy the event, a number of students have been left/dropped off unsupervised. This has created safety concerns and disruptions for other fans in attendance and game management staff.

Moving forward, ALL middle school aged students and younger MUST be accompanied by an adult at all high school events.  We appreciate your support keeping all in attendance supervised while allowing an enjoyable environment for all.

Please know this expectation is currently in place for AHS events moving forward.

We look forward to seeing you all soon and thank you for supporting AHS!

Thank you.

Kate Campbell- AHS Principal

Mark Houle - AHS Athletic Director

Reminder - No Parking Areas

Please keep the area below (note: yellow tape and signage) clear for our busses. This is critical for allowing safe passage of busses. Thank you for your attention to this matter.
