Dear Hill-Roberts Families,
As we head into our final days before the holiday break, we want to share our gratitude for the care and generosity that make our school community so special. Our recent CREST Assembly focused on Caring and ended with “We Are Thankful,” a message that truly reflects the spirit of our families and students.
Thank you for your generosity. Thanks to a very generous last minute push, we were able to complete and distribute all Giving Tree requests.
This short week will be filled with music, celebration, and learning, and we appreciate your continued partnership as we approach the break.
Please note that there will be no parent newsletter until we return from break. We will, however, share photos of our Golden Husky recipients on Monday following the Golden Husky Breakfast.
Wishing you and your family a joyful and restful holiday season.
Sincerely,
Dr. Paul Madden, Principal Ms. Julie O’Boyle, Assistant Principal

CREST Assembly - Caring Focus |
We had a wonderful CREST Assembly where we got to celebrate our Golden Huskies in each class who best exemplify Caring. Grade 4 also lead us in some cheerful Holiday songs, ending with "We are Thankful". So many students with a Golden Husky in their Heart! |

Updated Competency Determination (CD) Policy - School Committee |
Massachusetts requires all students to meet Competency Determination (CD) requirements in order to graduate from high school. In November 2024, Ballot Question 2 updated this requirement by removing MCAS as the sole way students demonstrate competency.
Because of this change, the Massachusetts Board of Elementary and Secondary Education updated its regulations and now requires school districts to explain how students will meet the new graduation requirements. The Attleboro School Committee approved an updated Competency Determination policy that outlines these expectations.
Families can review the approved policy using the link provided. Please contact your school if you have any questions.

Vision and Hearing screenings continue. I have completed grades 2-4 and continue to work on 1st grade. Grade 1 screenings include Hearing, Near and Distance vision along with Stereopsis. 1st grade also includes height and weight. If you do not want your child screened for any or all of the screenings, please let me know via a note or email. If your student does not pass any part of the screenings, a referral letter will be sent home with the student by the end of next week. Kindergarten will have Near vision and Hearing started when we return from the upcoming holiday break. Kindergarten Distance Vision was done in October with the assistance of the Lion’s Club using a SPOT screener.
Please contact me with any questions.
