Dear Hill-Roberts Families,
As we head into this short week before Thanksgiving, our halls are buzzing with excitement and gratitude. With no school Wednesday through Friday, we’re all looking forward to extra time with family, rest, and reflection—and I want to extend my heartfelt appreciation for the wonderful partnership we share with each of you. Hill-Roberts truly is a special place because of our caring, supportive community.
This week also brings some joyful fun for our students. On Tuesday, our Kindergarteners will proudly parade their creative “floats” through the building, cheered on by Grades 1–4. Later that day, we’ll celebrate reaching one of our Race for Ed fundraising goals with a school-wide, five-song dance party—Kidz Bop style! It promises to be a spirited sendoff before the holiday break.
Looking ahead, our PTO is preparing for the always-popular Hunter Husky’s Howliday Shop on December 5–6, a tradition students truly look forward to each year. Please also take a moment to check out the latest PTO updates—including information about the Someone Special Dance—as well as the district’s Redistricting update. And a quick reminder: there will be no Howler next weekend due to the Thanksgiving break.
Wishing all of our families a warm, restful, and gratitude-filled holiday. Thank you, as always, for your continued support of our school community.
Sincerely, Dr. Paul Madden, Principal Ms. Julie O’Boyle, Assistant Principal

Opt In or Opt Out to District SMS Messaging (Please share with both staff and families) |
|
|
District/School text messages are sent from the short code 989-00. Per CTIA requirements, recipients must be able to opt out of receiving SMS messages by replying "Stop" to that number. This will stop only text messages (calls and emails will continue as usual).
If you previously opted out and would like to start receiving text alerts again, simply send "Start" to 989-00 to be added back into future SMS communications. |

Outdoor Recess Guidelines - Feels like 25 degrees and above |
We aim to have outdoor recess any day that it is not actively raining, recess equipment is adequately clear of snow/ ice, and the "feels like" temperature is above 25 degrees (F).
Now that we are getting colder weather, be sure to (re)label your students' gloves, hats, and jackets. As you know, dressing in layers is great, but it does mean there is more for your students' to lose. Help us, help you by labeling your students' clothes :).

Get Ready for Hunter Husky’s Howliday Shop - A Festive Celebration for the Whole Family! |
The holiday season is almost here, and we’re excited to invite you to Hunter Husky’s Howliday Shop again this year. The Student Shop features a shopping area for students with items priced at $5 or less. Volunteers will be on hand to help students choose gifts for family members, friends, teachers, and even pets! It’s the perfect chance to teach kids about the joy of gift-giving and budgeting.
In addition, the Family Market will include:
· Bake sale and hot chocolate
· Husky gear
· Wrapping supplies for sale
· Small gifts (great for stockings or the eight nights of Hanukkah)
· Photo opportunities
· Craft table
Families can also check out the HRES Giving Tree for opportunities to help ensure that all of our little Huskies can experience the joy of the holidays. Bring a donation of new gloves, hats, or other winter weather gear and receive a special bonus!
The Howliday Shop will only be open Friday December 5th 5:30-7:30pm and Saturday December 6th 1:00-4:00pm (no in-school hours) in the Hill-Roberts cafetorium, with a special performance by the HRES 4th Grade Chorus on Sat. Dec. 6th at 2:00pm. Whether you’re looking for gifts for Grandma, paper for presents, or baked goods for breakfast, there’s something for everyone!
Volunteer: http://tiny.cc/HS25-Vol (open to middle- and high-school students as shopping helpers, too!)
