First Days Back!

Dear ELC Families,

It’s been a wonderful couple of days back! While there were a few minor hiccups, the best part was hearing the laughter and seeing the smiles of all our ELC students—it truly made the week special. We’re looking forward to a full week together next week!

A big thank you to everyone for helping with arrival and dismissal. By waiting to enter the parking lot until after 8:45 a.m. and avoiding the active car pick-up line during afternoon dismissal, you’ve helped make drop-offs and pick-ups run much more smoothly. We truly appreciate your cooperation!

Have a fantastic weekend!

Warmest regards,

Frank Rich, Principal

Meghan Thomson, Assistant Principal

Special Education Bus Information

Please check Aspen for your child’s bus route details. All information—including bus number, pick-up and drop-off times, and bus stop location—can be found under your student’s profile.

As this was the first week of school, bus drivers are still becoming familiar with their routes. Buses may arrive earlier or later than scheduled, so we ask for your patience during this transition period.

If the office is made aware of a significant delay, a message will be sent through Rooms. Please be sure you have the app downloaded to stay informed.

Birthdays of the Week!

This section will feature students’ birthday pictures as their special days come up. We will begin posting these next week, once we have received the photo release forms that allow us to share students’ images in the newsletters.

Newsletters can be found on the ELC website and through a link on the Peter Thacher Elementary School Facebook page.

Nursing

Medication Administration

All public/non-public school systems in the Commonwealth are required to comply with regulations 105 CMR 210.000: The Administration of Prescription Medications in Public and Private Schools.

• All medication must be transported to and from school by a parent/guardian or other responsible adult and delivered directly to the school nurse or designee.

• Prescription medication must be in its original pharmacy container, clearly labeled with the student’s name, medication name, dose, and frequency of dispensation.

• Both the physician’s order for prescription medication and written parental consent for the school to dispense any medication must accompany the medication. No medication can be dispensed without both these forms in place.

State Mandated Screenings

All health screenings conducted in school are required by Massachusetts State Law. Screenings are ongoing throughout the school year. If you do not wish your child to participate, you must write a letter to the school nurse declining your child’s participation. This letter must be written each year and be specific to which screenings you do not wish your child to participate.

Vision Screenings:  Preschool SPOT vision screening with Lion's Club will take place on October 14th and 15th.

Families are notified of any concerns and referred for evaluation as necessary.
